 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

LAGOS TASK FORCE ARRESTED A MAN WHO ABDUCTED A 6 MONTH OLD BABY TODAY IN OSHODI.

                     The operatives of the Lagos State Task Force during an overnight patrol arrested a man who was alleged to have abducted a six-month old baby girl (Darasimi Akinyemi) at No 55, Oshodi Road, Oshodi, Lagos. Speaking on the incident, the Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force, SP Olayinka Egbeyemi, stated that mother of the alleged abducted baby, Mrs. Banke Akinyemi (29yrs) claimed that the suspect came into her room ar ound midnight while she was asleep and took her baby beside her but the cry of her baby woke her up and that it was then that the suspect dumped the baby and ran. Mrs. Akinyemi who hailed from Ejigbo in Osun State stated that it was her mother, who was staying with her and other neighbours within the compound, who apprehended the suspect. According to her, “If not for the intervention of the operatives of the Lagos State Task Force who were on a mid-night patrol the man would have been lynched”. LAGOS DENIES APPROVING CONSTRUCTION OF ICT MALL IN IKEJA TODAY.

                Lagos State Government on Tuesday denied involvement with an infrastructural firm, Master Realty International Concept Ltd, allegedly reported to be parading itself as having approval to construct an ICT specialized mall directly beside the newly built Ikeja Bus Terminal. The State’s Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tpl Wasiu Anifowoshe in a statement said the State Government has not given Planning Permit for such development. Anifowoshe said "This information is false, Lagos State Government did not issue any permit to him because his plans are not in sync with the State Government's regeneration plan so it is not possible for him to obtain approval from the appropriate authorities."              The Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Lagos, Mr. Ingo Herbert has assured the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of long term support in combatting corruption in Nigeria through regular training for its staff and other opportunities relating to combatting economic and financial crimes.                   Following regular interception of Boko Haram terrorists suicide bombers by troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE and the serial failures that have trailed their suicide bomb attacks, recent developments indicate that the terrorist group is now exploiting deceptive tactics to lure unsuspecting members of the public to target areas before detonating their suicide bomb in order to attain maximum casualty. It has been observed th at one of the tactics employed by the terrorists is to create a scene such as fighting with each other or any other person to attract attention and cause people to gather around them before they detonate their suicide bomb.             The Lagos Island Central Business District has introduced a new cleaning initiative to ensure continuous evacuation of refuse within the area thereby sustaining cleanliness within the environment. Speaking on the initiative recently, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Central Business Districts, Mr. Agboola Dabiri said his office introduced the new policy to complement the efforts of other agencies of government whose duties ar e to cart away refuse from the markets and streets.
