 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

               Again,a former governor of Abia State,Orji Uzor Lalu,today monday,April 10,2017,failed in his bid to stop a prosecution witness,Christiana O. a manager with the United Bank of Africa {UBA} Umuaka branch,Umuahia ,Abia State,from giving further evidence in a criminal charge of N3.2 billion brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,before Justice Muhammed Idris of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi,Lagos.At the last sitting,Kalu,though his lead counsel,Mike Ozekhome,SAN,had raised an objection to the witness giving further testimony on the grounds of an alleged error in the additional proof of evidence filed by the prosecution.However,during today's hearing,Justice Idris said that granting the prayer of the defence would amount to injustice on the part of the prosecution,since PW2 had already started giving her evidence in the case.The judge also held that the signatory to the additional proof of evidence had complied with the provisi

EFCC UNCOVERS ANOTHER CASH HAUL AFTER A TIP FROM A WHISTLE BLOWER TODAY IN BALOGUN MARKET LAGOS.{PHOTOS}

                  A tip from a whistle blower today led operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,to intercept huge sums of money in various currencies at the popular Balogun market in Lagos.The monies include 547,730 Euros and £21,090 as well as N5,648,500.The total haul is about N250m at the prevailing exchange rate at the parallel market.The intercept followed information that about N250 million cash was being moved somewhere in the market for conversion into foreign currencies by unnamed persons.Operatives responded timely,met the money in Bureau de Change office,but a large chunk of it had been converted into Euro and Pounds sterling.The BDC operators found in possession of the monies claimed they were acting on behalf of their boss who sent the money to them from one of the Northern states in Nigeria.Two persons apprehended in the course of the raid are helping the Commission in its investigation.Please find attached pictures of some Nigerian Nairas,Euros an

OGUN COMMENCES 7.5KM ROAD CONSTRUCTION+PROMISES TIMELY COMPLETION.{PHOTOS}.

                    The Ogun State Government has commenced the construction of a six lane,dual carriage,Ogun Standard road,along the Enugada-Adatan-Ajitadun-Mokola-Ake axis in Abeokuta with the assurance that the project and other ongoing projects in the state,will be completed in record time.The state Governor,Senator Ibikunle Amosun,gave the assurance,yesterday sunday,while monitoring a demolition exercise to pave way for the 7.5km road that comes with modern day furnitures such as street lights,median,walk ways and drainages on both sides.Governor Amosun who reaffirmed that his administration would not abandon any project,promised that more developmental projects that would be of immense benefits to Ogun citizens would still be done before the end of his tenure.Speaking with newsmen earlier,the Deputy Governor,Mrs Yetunde Onanuga,thanked the people for their cooperation,saying there was no resistance of any kind against the demolition which is a clear demonstration of the fact that

NECO,HAS BEEN COMMENDED FOR A HITCH-FREE & ORDERLY CONDUCT OF EXAM ON SATURDAY.

               The National Examination Council {NECO},has been commended for a hitch-free and orderly conduct of the transition examination which took place on Saturday.The Minister of Education,Malam Adamu Adamu,made this known while monitoring the exercise in some examination centres in Abuja.About 80,000 candidates sat for the Common Entrance Examination nationwide for admissions into the 104 Federal Government Colleges,also known as Unity Schools,to compete for the limited space in the colleges for the 2017/2018 academic session.

JAMB HAS EXTENDED THE REGISTRATION EXERCISE OF ITS ADMISSION BY 2 WEEKS.

               The Registrar of the Board,Professor Ishaq Oloyede,announced the extension of the Registration exercise of its admission examinations otherwise known as the United Tertiary Matriculation by two weeks.He made the announcement in Abuja,after the aborted Jamb Mock exams earlier scheduled for April 8th.Prof Oloyede also announced that the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations,UTME has been re-scheduled to commence between 13th of May and 20th May,2017.''The Joint Admissions and matriculation board wishes to apologise to candidates and other stakeholders,we could not go on with the mock examinations and hereby announce extension of the registration exercise for the 2017 UTME,instead of the earlier announced April 19.The deadline for the sale of forms and registration will now extend to friday,May 5th,2017.Consequently,the 2017 UTME has also been postponed to start on saturday,May 13th to 20th,2017,'' he said.''Meanwhile,the mock examination

Oshodi of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja,today monday,April 10,2017,refused an application filed by a Federal High Court Judge,Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia,seeking leave of the court to enable her travel abroad for medical check.Justice Ajumogobia is standing trial alongside Godwin Obla,a Senior Advocate of Nigeria,SAN,on a 30-count charge bordering on alleged perversion of the course of justice,unlawful enrichment and forgery.The defendants allegedly committed the offences on May 21,2015 when they conspired to pervert the course of justice with N5million.At today's hearing,the prosecution counsel,Idris .A.
