OVER 25 MILLION PHONES STOLEN IN ONE YEAR- FG. (PHOTO).

 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.       A group of Nigerians in diaspora, having traced their roots to Igboland via DNA, decided to come back home in Anambra State over their inheritance. According to the traditional ruler, ten African Americans/Canadian of Igbo ancestry, were inducted as brothers and sisters and also issued with Igbo names and allocated plots of land for residence during the last Eri Festival in Aguleri, Anambra East Local  Government Area.More photos below.

GROUP PRESENTS CAMPAIGN VEHICLE TO ORTOM.{PHOTOS}.

      A firm known as Time Pays Group, today presented a campaign vehicle to Governor Samuel Ortom to help prosecute the 2019 election. Group Managing Director of the company, Mr. Paul Ndi Oyemike, made the presentation today at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi. He said the vehicle was their little way of contributing their quota to the reelection of the Governor. According to him, their visit was also meant to register their presence in the state, stressing that the company has different products on its stable including paint, serviette, tissue papers and liquid soap. He said the transport company is also into mobile advertising where bills posted on the vehicles convey the intended messages to the people in the hinterland. Receiving the vehicle, Governor Ortom expressed appreciation to the company for identifying with his administration and promised to offer more selfless service to people of the state.One more photo below.

ORTOM SWEARS IN FIRST BENUE FEMALE HEAD OF SERVICE.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

    Governor Samuel Ortom today swore in Mrs. Veronica Onyeke as the first substantive female head of service in the state after 42 years since the creation of Benue state. The ceremony took place at the Old Banquet Hall of Benue Peoples House, Makurdi. Governor Ortom charged the new head of service to be committed and dedicated in her service to God and humanity as contained in her oath of office, stressing that her appointment was a square peg in a square hole. He noted that Mrs. Onyeke was appointed head of service at a very challenging time when the service was facing many challenges including indiscipline, lack of commitment to work and absenteeism, stressing that a lot of sacrifice was needed to sanitise the system.       The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has expressed concerns over a possible repeat of the 2012 flood disaster in Kogi State when the River Niger overflowed its banks, displacing many residents. The 2012 flood covered major high ways causing many travellers to be stranded in Lokoja, the state capital for several days. NEMA’s Director of Planning, Research and Forecasting, Vincent Owan, expressed the fear yesterday when they visited the state to assess the extent of the impending flood disaster.    According to newsmen  angry youths of Isiala Ngwa in Abia state have blocked all roads following the death of an Okada rider in the Area yesterday.Sources  gathered that the Okada rider was killed by a navy man over misunderstanding on Monday morning.
