  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.      The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Gombe zonal office on March 13, 2020 secured the conviction of Dr. Dallami Arab Rukuje and Isa Garba before Justice Abubakar Jauro of the Gombe State High Court on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, criminal misappropriation, aiding and abetting. Rukuje, the Executive Secretary of the Gombe State Emergency Management Agency, GOSEMA, was  accused of conspiring with Garba, the Store Officer to cart away some building materials meant to alleviate the sufferings of Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs in the state. The materials were provided by the Presidential Committee for the North-East Initiatives. Rather than utilize the materials for the IDPs, they conspired to sell 5,000 bags of cement, and 4,000 drums of 20litre paint, and used the proceeds for their personal benefit. They pleaded “not guilty” when they were arraigned in February 2018.

     The Uyo zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested 12 suspected internet fraudsters in Calabar, Cross River State and Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. . . The suspects are: Ahmed Adelakun, Matthew Edafe, Chukwuma Edwin Chisom, Mbang Prince, Ogon Godspower and Nnamdi Ogana. . . Others are: Abasiama Essien, Phiona Ekok Osim, Gabriel David, Ugochukwu Onuabuchi, Raphael Bassey and Etim Stephen. . . Chisom was arrested at Ukpei street, off Abak road, Uyo while others were nabbed at various locations including 110 Victory Way Extension, Satellite town in Calabar. . .While admitting to the crime, the suspects during interrogation, availed operatives information about how they operated. . . Investigations showed that they were into various cybercrime activities such as, love scam, online Bitcoin trading scam, identity theft, amongst others. . . POLICEMAN COMMITS SUICIDE AFTER KILLING HIS WIFE OVER INFIDELITY IN ONDO STATE.{PHOTOS}.

      Tragedy struck in the Ondo state after a police officer simply identified as Tolulope, allegedly shot his wife dead and later killed himself in their home in Akungba-Akoko in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State on Tuesday March 10th. Confirming the incident to newsmen, the state police command spokesperson, Tee-Leo Ikoro, said it is quite unfortunate that such a thing happened in the state. According to Ikoro, investigations are ongoing into the case as the couple were the only ones at home when the incident happened, so no one can actually say for a fact it was a case of murder and suicide. However, neighbors of the deceased couple say they have been at loggerheads as the policeman has always accused his wife of cheating on him. The neighbors claim the deceased officer never trusted his wife, accusing her of always receiving different calls from different men. The couple left behind a three weeks old baby and a two year old child.More photos below.

ANGLICAN COMMUNION OF NIGERIA HAS ALSO SUSPENDED HANDSHAKES DURING SERVICE OVER CORONAVIRUS.{PHOTO}.

      The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has suspended handshakes during church service as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of coronavirus. The Church's General Secretary, Gershinen Dajur made the announcement on Thursday March 12. He also disclosed that the leadership of the church has directed that water and soap for washing of hands as well as hand sanitisers should be made available during services or events. The statement reads in part... “Let the church be encouraged to trust God who is well able to help us in our times of trouble (Psa. 46:1). This is the time to trust and obey God than to be anxious and panic (Phil 4:6-7). “Since this virus is communicable, the church is to prayerfully put on hold the sharing of one chalice to all during Holy Communion.      Governor El-Rufai and HH Muhammadu Sanusi II have now departed Awe, Nasarawa state for Abuja. The dethroned Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi, has departed Awe in Nasarawa State with the Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai. This comes after a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja granted an interim order releasing Sanusi from detention. Justice Anwuli Chikere granted the order in line with the prayers on the exparte motion filed on behalf of the deposed Emir by Mr. Lateef Fagbemi SAN. The former Emir had on Thursday approached the court seeking an interim order of the court directing his immediate release from detention.One more photo below.

"The operation is with a view to identifying fake dollar bills or any other fake currencies in circulation based on the directives of the acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu," said Mohammed Usman, who led the operation. . . Justice Anwuli Chikere made the order in an ex-parte ruling on Friday morning after listening to lawyer to Sanusi, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) who argued a motion ex-parte to that effect. The order, made interim, is directed at the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Attorney General of Kano State and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) – who are all named as respondents in a fundamental rights enforcement suit filed on March 12, 2020 by Sanusi.
