Internet Fraud: Court Sends Siblings, 14 Others to Prison in Benin City Two brothers, Clement Osariemen and Vincent Osariemen, were among sixteen internet fraudsters convicted and sentenced to prison by Justices Efe Ikponmwonba and M. Itsueli of Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City. OYO ASSEMBLY PASSES OYSCATECH BILL 2021 INTO LAW  Oyo State House of Assembly, Tuesday passed the Oyo State College of Agriculture And Technology, OYSCATECH, Bill 2021 into law after scaling through the third reading at the floor of the house. The passage of the Bill was sequel to the presentation and consideration of the report of the House Joint Committee on Education and Agriculture and Rural Development. The Chairman of the committee, Hon. Peter Ojedokun said the bill will strengthen the institution and promote agriculture in Oyo State. The Bill is to provide for the establishment, incorporation, constitution and functions of the Oyo State College of Agriculture And Technology, Igboora following its upgrade to a Polytechnic. The College was upgraded to a Polytechnic in 2016, and can award National Diploma Certificate and Higher National Certificate.

TINUBU ORDERS DSS IMMEDIATELY VACATE EFCC'S OFFICE.(PHOTO).

Tinubu orders DSS to immediately vacate EFCC's office.  President Bola Tinubu has ordered the Department of State Security Service (DSS) to immediately vacate the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Ikoyi, Lagos. The President gave the directive when reports that DSS officials stormed the EFCC office located on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos on Tuesday, preventing officials of the anti-graft agency from accessing their work place, was brought to his attention.  The President, in a statement from the State House Presidential Villa, issued by Tunde Rahman, said if there were issues between the two important agencies of government, they would be resolved amicably. Operatives of the DSS had laid siege on the property of the EFCC located at No. 15 Awolowo Road, Ikoyi on Tuesday. Subsidy: Petrol hits N1,200 per litre 30 May 2023  The pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly called petrol, on Tuesday, increased to N1,200 per litre in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, following the declaration of the removal of subsidy on the product by President Bola Tinubu. Scores of residents, who decried the high cost of petrol in the country, said they have since been engaged in panic buying. Some residents were also seen with their cans as many filling stations were under lock. A resident, Darlington Okeke, said panic buying was occasioned by Tinubu’s statement during his inauguration on Monday. Okeke stated that petrol in filling stations was sold between N800 and N1,200, against N230 per litre. Another resident, Ibrahim Ali, said black marketers sold a litre of fuel for N1,500, adding that the development was causing panic buying and frustration among residents. Police arrest 30 pro-Biafran agitators in Enugu 30 May 2023  Operatives of the Enugu Police Command have arrested no fewer than 30 Pro-Biafra agitators during a procession for the Biafran Day commemoration in Enugu. They are members of the Biafra Zionist Movement (BZM) agitating for a sovereign state of Biafra. They were arrested around 11 am and taken to the State Police Command. Tuesday was declared sit-at-home day by Pro-Biafra agitators in remembrance of the day the defunct Biafra Republic was declared, a development that forced businesses, schools, markets and offices to shut down in Enugu and other Southeast States. It was learnt the men had gathered at a location at Independence Layout, Enugu and were about to commence procession when the police swooped on them. EFCC Arraigns Jonathan-Omo for N105m Amnesty Fraud The Port Harcourt Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, May 25, 2023, arraigned one Ngozi Jonathan-Omo, managing director of Zeenel Concepts, before Justice B.O. Quadri of the Federal High Court sitting in Yenegoa, Bayelsa State on one count charge of conspiracy and diversion of public funds to the tune of N105, 000.000. The offence is contrary to Section 1 (1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offence Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1 (13) of the same Act. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to her. In view of her plea, prosecuting counsel, Ogbule Agala prayed the court to fix a date for commencement of trial and remand the defendant at the Correctional Centre. Counsel to the defendant, Onengiofori .N. Ikiriko did not oppose the prayer by the prosecution but urged the court to grant his client bail to enable her to prepare for her trial.

Two Yahoo Boys Jailed in Kaduna Justice A.A Bello of the Kaduna State High Court sitting in Kaduna, today, May 30, 2023 convicted and sentenced the duo of Tachio Abba and Wisdom Omofunhe Billy to two years imprisonment on separate one count charges bordering on possession of scam documents and impersonation. The convicts were arrested by the Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, around Trikania, Kaduna state, based on intelligence on their alleged internet fraud-related activities. Upon investigation, Tachio was found to have an Instagram account with the name Johnson Young where he claimed to be a United States military personnel and used the false identity to defraud unsuspecting white ladies with promises of romantic relationships. He operated Facebook accounts with the name Jane Smith, Rose Mark and Hannah Jooshua which he uses to defraud unsuspecting white men. 17 Suspected Internet Fraudsters Nabbed in Enugu Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, arrested 17 suspected internet fraudsters in a sting operation in Enugu.      The Suspects are: Okechukwu Emmanuel Onah, Ezuma Emmanuel Nnaemezie, Onodugo Godfrey Oji, Ojioche Miracle Nzesinachi, Okii Nnaemezie Emmanuel, Ojioche Tochukwu Collins, Usulor Chukwudi Reuben, Thadeus Ebuka Jude, Okoloeze Chibuzor Emmanuel, Ani Francis Chinaza, Ani Arinze Daniel, and Amos Obasi Ozoemena Others include; Ani Moses Nnamdi, Thomas Joshua Ekene, Ani David Charles, Ezike Kingsley Chinecherem and Nwose Chinedu Peter. Items recovered from them include two exotic cars, 26 mobile phones and four personal computers. The suspects will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded. More photos below.

Sit-at-home: Imo shut down for Biafra Day 30 May 2023  The sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) witnessed a total compliance in Imo State as banks,schools,markets and other public institutions remain closed. Our correspondent who monitored the State capital,Owerri between 9 30 am and 11 am reported that even fuel stations were under lock and key. All the major roads were deserted except for few commercial vehicles which struggled to have two or three passengers in their vehicles. Eke Ukwu Owerri, Relief market and Alaba market had scanty traders around the markets while the main shops were closed. Some of the roads,such as Bank roads,Tetlow road,Mbaise road,Wetheral roads known for their traffic congestions had a free flow even Douglas road. Although while some of these roads known for their economic activities remained closed,few other the traders operated a partial business transactions.
