 More than 100,000 children have been displaced by the latest escalation in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, UNICEF said on Sunday, warning the numbers are expected to rise as violence spreads. Since Dec. 1, intense fighting has uprooted more than 500,000 people, with children accounting for over 100,000 of those displaced in South Kivu alone, the UN agency said in a statement released Sunday. It said since Dec. 2, hundreds have been killed in the fighting, and children have been among the victims, with four students killed, six injured, and at least seven schools attacked or damaged. The rapid escalation has forced hundreds of thousands of children and families to flee within Congo and into neighboring Burundi and Rwanda, it added.                The United State said yesterday friday,that they oppose to a third term in office for Rwandan President Paul Kagame.Rwanda's parliament is expecting to consider an amendment to the country's constitution that would lift a two term limit on presidential terms and potentially enable president Kagame to seek re-election in 2017.Rwanda's 2003 constitution limits the number of presidential terms to two and therefore bars Kagame elected first in 2003 and again in 2010 from standing for a third term.U.S has long supported 57 year old Paul Kagame,the Tutsi former rebel leader who led the offensive that ended a 1994 genocide by Huti extremists and led the country's revival.But the U'S made it clear that the United states would not back away attempt to modify the constitution to keep its ally in office beyond the next scheduled election.Rwandan officials deny that Kagame himself is behind moves to review the constitution,insisting they are re...

30 CIVIL SERVANTS OF THE LAGOS MINISTRY OF JUSTICE,ARRESTED AFTER ARMED ROBBERS STOLE N3M YESTERDAY.

                      At least 30 civil servants have been arrested and detained at the Alausa police station in connection with the robbery yesterday friday.Armed robbers at the early hours of friday broke into the Lagos state Ministry of Justice Alausa,and ran away with N3,million.The robbers were said to gained access into the department through the ceiling while security men,including policemen were on duty and carted away large sum of money that was meant for the payment of allowances for non employees of the Lagos state Government who assisted the state in rendering free invaluable services.Sources blamed the robbery on an insider who would have given information about the availability of funds in the ministry.Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary,Ministry of Justice,Lawal Pedro said the incident occurred at night,adding that the police have arrested 30 staff for questioning over the robbery.According to him,the police wou...

                         According to sources,the victims were shot dead last sunday night around 8:00pm by unknown gunmen,who drove in a black SUV while they were relaxing in the shop of the wife of one of the deceased,identified as Ejimadu.The motive for their killing could not be ascertained at the time when these report was filed.Further reports states that the incident happened at Umuokpo village in Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo state.The victims were identified as Placid Ejimadu,Livinus Iwumune and Jonathan Ibemere.
