  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.      Justice J. K. Omotosho of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has convicted and sentenced two brothers: Otojareri Governor Lucky (a.k.a Sam Lewis) and Otojareri President Mayor (a.k.a John Jacob Carison) to five years imprisonment for obtaining money under false pretences contrary to Section 1(1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act. Lucky and Mayor were arraigned by the Port Harcourt Zonal office of the EFCC, on Thursday, October 25, 2019 on one-count charge bordering on obtaining the sum of $788.00(USD) under false pretences.

    The EFCC, today, November 6, 2019, arraigned one Anieka Udoh before Justice Sherifat Solebo of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja on one-count charge bordering on stealing to the tune of $8, 907 (Eight Thousand, Nine Hundred and Seven United States Dollars) belonging to Major-General Umaru Mohammad. Udoh who is facing another trial in a similar case before Justice Saliu Seidu of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi wherein Ecobank Plc is involved as the second defendant was alleged to have stolen the said sum from the victim while he was a staff of Ecobank.

       The EFCC Kaduna Zonal Office on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, handed over four Vehicles recovered during investigation of some management staff of the Federal University Dutsin -ma, Katsina State. The University officials were alledged via a petition to the EFCC, to have committed criminal conspiracy, misappropriation of public funds and procurement fraud. The case was reported to the Commission on September 10, 2016 by the Honourable Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu against the former vice Chancellor, Professor James O. I. A 13-YEAR OLD GIRL DIED AFTER BEING BEATEN BY HER HALF ELDER SISTER FOR BED-WETTING IN LAGOS.{PHOTO}.

     Precious Omenka,13, was staying with her older half-sister Nneka and Nneka's mother Seki Eko in Lekki, Lagos when she was brutally beaten, eventually leading to her death, their father said. Mr. Emeka Omenka, the father of the deceased, said he had Nneka out of wedlock with Seki Eko. He later got married and his wife Ifeoma raised Nneka as her own as she found it hard conceiving her first child. Mr Emeka Omenka said his older daughter Nneka asked that her younger sister Precious pays her a visit. Precious went to Nneka’s house in Ikota, Lekki on October 12, but was returned on October 16 looking weak with complaints of body pains. She informed her parents that she had been beaten by Nneka and her mother Seki Eko for wetting the bed. Mr Omenka said Precious gave details of how she was kicked in the stomach, chest and sides several times. She added that she was beaten with a mop stick and a cable as well. IBADAN ROAD TRAFFIC CRASH INVOLVING FRSC PERSONNEL: THE TRUTH ABOUT THE UGLY INCIDENT.#PRESS RELEASE.

     The attention of the Federal Road Safety Corps has been drawn to the unfortunate road traffic crash that occurred in Ibadan that claimed the lives of an FRSC staff and one (1) other person who is yet to be identified. Due to the sensitivity of the incidence and the need to commence immediate investigation, the Corps Marshal has directed the Oyo state Sector Commander to carry out full investigation into the culpable cause of the incident and report immediately. While investigation is still on going, the public is advised to remain calm and peaceful.
