 Flags honoring Danish troops restored at US embassy after public backlash     The removal of flags honoring Danish soldiers who were killed while serving in Afghanistan has sparked widespread anger in Denmark after staff at the U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen took them down ahead of a planned silent march honoring veterans. The flags, which had been placed in flower boxes outside the embassy and bore the names of fallen Danish troops, were removed days before a Jan. 31 demonstration intended to show solidarity with veterans and commemorate their sacrifices. The timing intensified public backlash, particularly following recent remarks by President Donald Trump that appeared to minimize the role played by NATO allies during the war in Afghanistan.                  The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,on February 13,2017 secured the conviction of Olugbenga Fanbunmi,who was arraigned before Justice Mamman Kolo of the Federal Capital Territory,FCT High Court on one-count charge bordering on advance fee fraud.Fanbunmi,who holds a diploma from the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic,Ogun State,is a member of a syndicate that specializes in forging bank statements,employment records,international passports,national identification card,and supporting documents need to process visas for the United Kingdom. His nefarious activities date back to 2005 during which he mastered the art of forging documents for ''abusive visa applications''.Between 2007 and 2016 he helped to forge bank statements as part of documents to process UK visa for 11 people.He had succeeded in helping 15 people obtain visas to travel to the UK where they were forced into prostitution.He pleaded ''guilty'' to the charge...

             Dr Victoria Chikwelu,the Anambra Commissioner for Social Welfare,Children and Women Affairs,gave the warning today friday in Awka in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.The commissioner decried the activities of those who use vulnerable persons to beg for alms,adding that it will not tolerated.Chikwelu said anyone caught using children and sick persons under any guise to solicit for alms,will be apprehended and prosecuted. She lamented the indiscriminate use of children,the sick and other persons in need of medical attention for alms begging,which she noted compounds the medical and mental status of the victims. The commissioner,however,advised any person that has a sick person should go to government hospital for treatment at a reasonable coast.She also advised persons with disability to enroll in any of the government-owned homes for physically challenged persons.
