7 NSCDC Officers Missing After Clash with Boko Haram, 50 Terrorists Killed

A special squad from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) neutralized 59 bandits in a confrontation that occurred in Kaduna State. The attack took place on Tuesday, shortly after the squad had conducted a patrol of national grid installations in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

Around 3:40 p.m., the NSCDC convoy, which included nine officers and 71 other personnel from various commands, was ambushed by over 200 armed Boko Haram fighters in the Farin-Kasa area of Chukun LGA. Despite the ambush, the NSCDC team successfully fought back, killing over 50 of the attackers. However, seven NSCDC officers remain missing, and several others were injured and are currently receiving medical treatment.

The NSCDC's Public Relations Officer, Babawale Afolabi, confirmed the attack and stated that efforts were underway to locate the missing personnel. The squad had been tasked with securing national grid infrastructure in light of recent attacks that led to nationwide power outages.

NSCDC leadership emphasized that the attack would not deter the agency's mission to safeguard critical national infrastructure and condemned the assault as an attack on security forces committed to defending the country.
