OVER 25 MILLION PHONES STOLEN IN ONE YEAR- FG. (PHOTO).

 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.  UK, US delegates arrive Osun for traditional festival.  Delegates from the United States of America, United Kingdom, Venezuela, Cuba, as well as, Trinidad and Tobago, on Wednesday stormed Osogbo, Osun State to attend annual convention of ‘Peers of Heaven’ group, otherwise known in Yoruba language as ‘Emere.’ A delegate from United States, who identified herself as Osunsola, who was attending the festival for the fourth time, said though she was born and raised in US, she was able to establish her Nigerian nationality and Yoruba heritage through DNA.. Osunsola, who commended the organisers of the festival, further said, ‘Peers of Heavens’ are helpers of their earthly colleagues, and should be respected and pampered..

A PILOT MYSTERIOUSLY VANISHES WHILE FLYING NEAR THE BAHAMAS. (PHOTO).

 Pilot from Louisville, Kentucky mysteriously vanishes while flying near the Bahamas. 59-year-old Christopher Moore has gone missing along with his single engine Bristell plane.  According to Christopher's wife, Stacey Love, he had flown out of Sebastian, Florida and was scheduled to land at Marsh Harbour Airport. Mrs. Love says Christopher vanished on approach to the airport, she added for some reason his signal faded and then was just gone from radar.  The U.S Coast Guard and officials from the Bahamas, conducted a 2 day search before calling off search efforts after finding no sign of Christopher or his plane. Love says, "I wish we would get more resources and help. There is no sign of that plane and it's very shallow water, it tells me they are missing something because we should be able to find him." She added that he was a very experienced pilot and had been flying for 9 years.

INDIANA BIBLE COLLEGE STUDENT LOSES HIS LIFE AFTER FALLING DURING IMPROMPTU BIBLE STUDY AT GRAND CANYON. (PHOTOS).

 Indiana Bible College student loses his life after falling during impromptu bible study at Grand Canyon. 20-year-old Abel Mejia was from North Carolina but was a freshman at the Indiana Bible College. Abel was on a trip to visit churches in New Mexico and Arizona when his group decided to visit the Grand Canyon. While experiencing the awesome beauty of the park the group were moved to hold an impromptu bible study. They were holding the bible study about a quarter mile west of the Pipe Creek Overlook when Abel slipped over the rim and fell 400 ft. The park service reports that Abel is the 10th person to lose his life this year at the Grand Canyon. The family would like it noted that Abel was not on his phone at the time of the accident. RAPPER NELLY ARRESTED TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD CASINO. (PHOTO).

 St. Louis rapper Nelly was arrested at the Hollywood Casino early Wednesday morning. According to reports Cornell Hayes AKA "Nelly" was arrested by Missouri Highway Patrol around 4:45 am Wednesday morning.  He is being charged with possession of a controlled substance after officers found several ecstasy pills in his possession. He was also charged for no insurance and failure to appear on a previous traffic charge. There is no further information on whether he has been released or not at this time.

  TWO DEAD AND MANY OTHERS TRAPPED AS A HOTEL IN GERMANY PARTIALLY COLLAPSED.. Two people have been killed in Kröv, Germany, after a hotel building partially collapsed late on Tuesday night, while several others remain trapped under the rubble. Rescue operations are ongoing with more than 200 emergency services personnel at the scene. Fourteen people were inside the hotel at the time of the incident, according to local police. A two-year-old child, a man and two women have been rescued so far, as reported by German broadcaster SWR. Located near the banks of the River Moselle, the hotel's roof collapsed at around 23:00 local time (21:00 GMT) on Tuesday, shattering windows as the top floor of the building collapsed onto the lower floor.  Update- American woman found chained to a tree in India admits she chained herself to the tree and she was never married. 50-year-old Lalita Kumar was found chained to a tree deep in the Indian Jungle on June 27th. The shepard who discovered her quickly notified authorities and a rescue effort ensued. When local authorities arrived on scene they discovered an emaciated Kumar bound to a tree by iron chains. Her passport and an expired Visa along with some other personel effects were found near by. Once she was freed and taken to a nearby hospital Kunar alleged said she could only communicate through writing because she had lock jaw. Through a series of notes she outlined a shocking story where her husband had chained her to the tree and she hadn't eaten in 40 days. Indian officials were skeptical from the beginning, saying that although she was emaciated, they didn't believe a person could actually survive such an ordeal. After some investigating, her story began to fall apart....

 UK reassures Nigerians on safety amidst unrest.  The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Richard Montgomery, has assured the Nigerian diaspora in the United Kingdom of their safety following recent unrest in various cities across the country.. Montgomery gave the assurance during a meeting with the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa.. Montgomery, in a statement signed by one of the media and Public Relations Unit staff members of the commission, Gabriel Odu, on Wednesday addressed concerns about the disturbances affecting 12 towns in the UK..  Fuel Subsidy Is Back – Obasanjo Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, revealed that fuel subsidy which was removed by the Federal Government in 2023 has been reintroduced due to inflation. President Bola Tinubu during his inaugural address on May 29, 2023, had declared that fuel subsidy “is gone.” The development has led to the increase of petrol price from about N200 to over N600 per litre. In an interview with the Financial Times, Obasanjo faulted the manner in which the subsidy was removed by the government. According to him, the government should have implemented some measures before the subsidy removal. He, however, explained that the subsidy has “come back” due to the inflation rate. “There’s a lot of work that needs to be done. Not just wake up one morning and say you removed the subsidy.
