Today, I welcomed the newly appointed commissioners into the Rivers State Executive Council. I charged them to work diligently for the entire state, not just their LGAs.  As an administration, we remain focused on curbing oil theft, boosting progress, and protecting Rivers people. Working together, we will deliver positive results! Also, I inaugurated a Judicial Panel to investigate the violence, arson, and destruction perpetrated at some LGA headquarters on October 7.  Missing Speed Darlington in police custody- Deji Adeyanju A popular activist, Deji Adeyanju, has confirmed that the singer and social media sensation, Darlington Okoye, aka Speed Darlington, said to be missing is being detained by the Nigerian Police Force in Abuja. Adeyanju, who is also a lawyer, revealed that Speed Darlington, also known as Akpi was arrested in Lagos last Friday and subsequently transferred to Abuja, where he has remained in detention since. He claimed that the arrest was based on a formal complaint from Grammy Award-winning artist, Burna Boy. He, however, did not give details of the petition. The activist revealed this in a post on his X handle on Tuesday.

 Zambia signs deal with China for its first cholera vaccine plant Zambia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with China on Monday to establish the southern African nation's first cholera vaccine manufacturing plant, according to AA. The project’s first phase will cost $37 million, with about three million doses expected to be produced through a joint venture between Zambia's Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and Jijia International Medical Technology Corporation.  DR Congo war uprooted nearly one million people this year - UN Nearly a million people within the Democratic Republic of Congo have been displaced from their homes this year, the UN human rights chief said Tuesday, AFP reported. Volker Turk said the situation in the country was deteriorating by the day, and voiced alarm at the growing numbers on death row after the DRC lifted its de facto moratorium on the death penalty. Turk, who visited the DRC in April, told the UN Human Rights Council that the central African country was gripped by an "explosive mix of escalating violence, regional and international interests, exploitative corporations and weak rule of law". He said the number of victims of human rights violations was continuing to rise, with 85 percent of abuses committed in the conflict-affected east in the 12 months to June 1.  Many feared dead in Lagos boats accident  No fewer than twenty people have reported lost their lives after two passenger boats capsized in Lagos on Monday night. The boats said to be conveying 16 passengers each, caved in after a collusion which occurred around 7pm, at Imore lagoon. It was however unclear where the boats loaded and where they were headed at the time of the accident. Police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin who confirmed the incident, said 11 of the passengers were rescued. He said the boats were unregistered, adding that a report about the accident was made at the Ilashe Police Division. Hundeyin said all 32 passengers and their goods drowned when the boats capsized, adding that it took the intervention of the police, local divers and other emergency responders to rescue the 11.
