  Nigeria in darkness as national grid collapses again Nigeria has been plunged into darkness as the country’s national grid collapsed again. The bulk power supply was disrupted around 11:20am on Thursday. This is the second time the grid has collapsed this week and the twelveth time in the last eleven months. Confirming the grid collapse, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company wrote: “Dear Esteemed Customer, “The current outage is as a result of a system collapse of the National Grid. The power system stakeholders are working to restore supply as soon as possible. Please bear with us.” Meanwhile, the Transmission Company of Nigeria has not issued an official statement on the reason the grid collapsed again on Thursday. However, recall that the TCN on Tuesday blamed the grid collapse on lines and generator trippings. This comes as the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu on Wednesday received an investigative report on the incessant grid collapse in Nigeria. The details have not been unv

 Okorocha alive, aide dismisses death rumour Ebere Nzeworji, an aide to the former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, has refuted rumours of his principal’s death, stating that “the immediate past Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District is hale and hearty.” In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday morning, Nzeworji explained that “a fake viral message has circulated on social media since the early evening of Wednesday, November 6, alleging that Okorocha had passed away in a London hospital.” Nzeworji clarified that Okorocha was seen at his Unity House office in Garki, Abuja, around the same time the rumour began to spread and that he had recently returned from Owerri, Imo State.  Northern Governors Should Accept Tinubu's Tax Reform Bill —Shehu Sani Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has urged Northern governors to accept President Bola Tinubu’s tax reform bill and make inputs where necessary instead of raising opposition against the bill. Sani in his reaction to the Northern governors’ rejection of the tax reform, said the bill is not inimical to the North or any part of the country. According to him, it is rather economically beneficial and fair to all the regions of the country. He asked the Northern governors and others to keep sentiments aside and read the bill thoroughly, stressing that the bill is a comprehensive and bold move to harmonize and simplify tax administration and streamline its operations and enforcement.

Sudan The non-governmental medical aid group Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has announced that it has resumed activities in a famine-hit camp for internally displaced persons in El Fasher, the capital of western Sudan's North Darfur State. "After 60 days, we have resumed our full outpatient nutritional program as we finally received 2,433 boxes of lifesaving Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Foods (RUTFs) and other medical supplies," the MSF said on social platform X, Xinhua reported. "This is only enough for five weeks," the organization added, noting, "We ran so low on therapeutic food supplies in September that we had to stop providing life-saving treatment to 5,000 children under five in the midst of an intense hunger crisis."  CNG adoption: 65 new licences issued for stations, over 100,000 vehicles converted — PCNGi   Project Director/CEO of the Presidential CNG Initiative, Engr. Michael Oluwagbemi has revealed that the initiative has issued 65 new licences and converted over 100,000 vehicles within the past one year. In a statement yesterday, the PCNGi CEO said that since the launch of the initiative, the response has been positive as Nigerians are embracing and converting their petrol-powered vehicles to CNG-enabled vehicles — with over 60 percent reduction in the amount of money they spend on fuel. “To date, over 100,000 vehicles have been converted from petrol to CNG/bi-fuel-powered, and more conversion centres are being established across the country. In addition, investors are ramping up the development and deployment of CNG infrastructure, with over $200 million already invested across the value chain.  Bandits abduct over 50 people in Zamfara Bandits yesterday abducted over 50 persons at Wanke and Gurusu villages of Gusau and Gummi Local Government Areas of Zamfara State. Locals said the victims were abducted in Wanke and environs while working on their farms; and three others, along the Anka-Gurusu road in Anka Local Government Area of the state. A resident of Kwalfada, a village neighbouring Wanke, said the kidnapped victims were abducted from their respective farms.   LAGBAJA: IGP ORDERS POLICE PERSONNEL TO WEAR BLACK BAND IN TRIBUTE TO LATE COAS FOR 7 DAYS. Following the demise of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has ordered officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force to wear black band throughout the 7 day mourning period.  This directive is to pay tribute and honour the late General who has shown gallantry, dedication, and passion for fighting violent crimes and insurgency in Nigeria.
