 How Tribunal Suspended Three Top Kaduna Government Officials Over False Asset Declarations The Code of Conduct Tribunal has ordered the suspension of three senior Kaduna State officials following allegations of false asset declarations, pending their trial. In a statement released on Thursday by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), Samuel Aruwan, the Acting Commissioner for Internal Security; Shizzer Bada, the Commissioner for Finance; and Tijjani Abdullahi, the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, were directed to step down from their positions. The order, issued on 22 October, follows an ex parte application filed by the CCB. An ex parte application is heard by a court in the absence of the adverse party. The officials are accused of violating the provision of the CCB and CCT Act that requires public officers to declare their true assets from time to time. The tribunal’s decision remains in effect pending the hearing of a motion filed by the bureau on 21 Oct

 Female student bites off schoolmate’s tongue over food in Umuahia A Senior Secondary school female student identified as Amarachi Chibueze has reportedly bitten off the tongue of another student in a federal government-owned school in Umuahia. The incident was alleged to have happened on Friday while the two students were quarrelling because of food in the school. It was gathered that the attacker grabbed her victim identified as Adaeze on the neck before biting off the outer part of her tongue and then spitting it out on the ground. It was also gathered that the victim had been rushed to a hospital in Umuahia by her school where she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital. An unconfirmed report said the attacker, Amarachi Chibueze has been expelled from the school while another source said she was being held to aid the investigation.

 UNIBEN lecturer acquitted of alleged rape Edo State High Court, Benin presided over by Justice Mary Itsueli, has discharged and acquitted a lecturer in the Department of English and Literature of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) Dr. Bode Ekundayo of alleged rape three years after. Ekundayo, an Associate Professor, was alleged to have demanded sex for mark from a 21-year-old, 400-level student, Miss Anita Adesuwa Efosa, on October 5, 2021. Justice Simon Amobede sacked the NNPP candidates while delivering judgment in a suit filed by a faction of the party led by Dalhatu Shehu Usman. The judge asked the faction to submit its list of candidates to the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission, KANSIEC, for clearance. The defendants in the case are the Independent National Electoral Commission, Kano State Independent Electoral Commission, Inspector General of Police and Director, Department of Security Services (DSS).
