 Court Jails Two Fraudsters in Gombe  for N3.5m Land Fraud   Justice J.A Kereng of  the Gombe State High Court  sitting in Gombe on  Friday,  May 30  2024 convicted and sentenced the duo of Umar Bakari and Musa Aliyu Hinna for land fraud to the tune of N3, 525,000( Three Million, Five Hundred and Twenty Five Thousand Naira) only.   Bakari and Hinna were jailed after pleading guilty to one-count separate charges of intent to defraud preferred against him by the Gombe Zonal  Directorate of the EFCC.    The charge against Umar Bakari reads: "That you Umar Bakari and Shehu Adamu (now convict) sometimes in February 2022 at Gombe, Gombe State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court with intent to defraud obtained the aggregate sum of N525,000  (Five Hundred and Twenty- Five Thousand only) from David Ibrahim by falsely representing to him that the money was payment for your landed property located at Shango- hamma District Tumfure of Gombe State and thereby committed an offence

 A young man allegedly committed suicide in Makurdi, Benue State. He was said to have opened the gate leading to the electric transformer and lay on it when he was electrocuted.  According to eyewitnesses, the young man had demanded to see his mother or he would kill himself. Many thought it was a joke, but after several minutes, he willfully did the unthinkable by forcing himself into the electric transformer at the Kanshio axis of Makurdi.

 Erisco Foods : Court Grants Chioma Okoli ₦5m Bail Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has granted Mrs Chioma Okoli ₦5 million bail with two sureties in like sum over allegations bordering on her online commentary on Erisco Foods Limited’s tomato paste. While admitting her to bail, Justice Lifu said that one of the sureties must be the defendant’s spouse or blood relative with a variable source of income and also residing within the jurisdiction of the court.
