  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.  Forty-seven Ethiopian nationals have been rescued from a human trafficking ring in Buccleuch, Sandton, Johannesburg.  On 16 October 2024, at approximately 7 p.m., authorities received a tip about kidnapped Ethiopian men. Upon investigating the address, they found the victims in dire conditions - some in only their underwear, others locked in rooms, and all deprived of basic necessities like food, water, clothing, and healthcare.

  The Limpopo Division of High Court  in Polokwane has sentenced a 19-year-old Zimbabwean Brian Mugwira to 22 years in prison for the brutal murder of 17-year-old Motjatji Thoka from Mokomene  village, whose dismembered body was discovered following her disappearance. Motjatji Thoka went missing from her home on  5 January 2024.  A missing persons report was filed at SAPS Botlokwa, Capricorn District and escalated to the Provincial Missing Person Task Team in Limpopo. After an extensive investigation, her remains were found on 08 January 2024 in the yard of an occupied house, with several body parts missing. Mugwira and his compatriot, Tatenda Sithole (36), were identified as suspects and arrested. Sithole was apprehended on 16 January 2024 at a rental property in Mokomene village, while Mugwira was arrested on 26 January  in the mountains near Ndzhelele village, Thohoyandou, where he was found with some of the victim’s body parts.  FG okays zero VAT on pharmaceutical products The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare is set to implement zero Value Added Tax and excise duties on pharmaceutical products and medical devices. A statement signed on Thursday by the ministry’s Head of Information & Public Relations, Alaba Balogun, said it had finalised the Executive Order Harmonised Implementation Framework, which has now been cleared for gazetting. It said the critical step would ensure that the Federal Inland Revenue Service and the Nigeria Customs Service could proceed with the implementation of zero VAT and excise duties on pharmaceutical products and medical devices. “This is a significant milestone, as it opens the door for our local pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers to begin fully benefiting from the relief measures outlined by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the Executive Order. “With the implementation of this Executive Order, we anticipate a notable reduction in the p

 Hisbah arrests Jigawa commissioner with married woman in Kano The Kano State Hisbah Board has confirmed the arrest and confinement of Auwal Danladi Sankara, the Commissioner of Special Duties from Jigawa State, who was found in an uncompleted building with a married woman. Dr. Abba Sufi, the Director General of the board, has verified the apprehension of Sankara, who was found with the married woman on Friday evening. He mentioned that the arrest was facilitated by careful tracking, following multiple complaints about his illicit activities with the married woman, which were reported by her husband’s younger brother.  Anambra's New Local Government Laws: Soludo Clarifies Alignment with Supreme Court Ruling By Ifeyinwa Ogwo Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Soludo, has stated that the new laws enacted by the Anambra House of Assembly on local government matters are in line with the Supreme Court judgement which did not nullify section 7 of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that empowers each state through its House of Assembly to make laws for the establishment, structure, composition, finance, and functions of the local government. The laws are the Anambra State Economic Planning and Development Law, 2024 and the Anambra State Local Government Administration Law, 2024.  EFCC Arrests 36 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Onitsha Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC have arrested thirty-six (36) suspected internet fraudsters at different locations of Onitsha, Anambra State. The suspects were arrested on October 11, 2024 following actionable intelligence linking them with suspe0cted online criminal activities. Upon arrest, preliminary investigations showed that the suspects impersonated foreign nationals using social media platforms to defraud unsuspecting victims. Items recovered from them include eight luxury vehicles, sophisticated brands of mobile phones and laptops. The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

IOWA COMMUNITY COMES TOGETHER TO HARVEST CROPS OF A FARMER SHO LOST HIS LIFE IN A FARMING ACCIDENT.(PHOTO).

 Iowa community comes together to harvest crops of a farmer who lost his life in a farming accident. 58-year-old Dana Sitzmann sadly lost his life when he was struck by an unattended wagon and suffered fatal injuries as a result. After learning of this tragedy, over 70 farmers from this tight-knit community came together to help the Sitzman family bring in their crops. A fleet of combines, tractors and semitrucks descended onto the property and began harvesting the 850 acres of corn. According to Tyler Sitzmann (Dana's son) his dad was a kind and generous person and had the roles been reversed he would have been the first person there to help out. He continued when neighbors found out about the initiative their phone would not stop ringing. As they began bringing in the crops Linda Sitzmann (Dana's wife) took the first ride on the combine to honor her late husband.  In a very twisted and sick story, a Texas man has been arrested after police allege he took in dogs so he could "end their lives in front of his girlfriend while he fought with her".  Bowie County deputies received a report concerning missing dogs from the Simms, Texas area. When speaking with pet owners, deputies were given the name of 24-year-old Stuart Hammonds as a possible suspect. When deputies descended onto the property Hammonds shared with his girlfriend, they were met by the unmistakable smell of death. As they searched the property authorities were able to identify the remains of at least 12 dogs suffering from different types of trauma. While investigating, police were informed by a witness that Mr. Hammonds would take the animal's lives while in fits of rage in front of his girlfriend. Deputies believe in addition to adopting dogs via social media, Hammonds would also lure loose dogs to his home for his disturbing purposes. Hammonds was arrested and charged

King Charles and Queen Camilla Arrive in Australia For Royal Tour 🇬🇧 🤝 🇦🇺 It was a pleasure to meet Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Ms Haydon, upon arrival in Sydney. King Charles and Queen Camilla touched down in Australia today for what is both a historic and pivotal royal tour. It is the King’s first visit to any of the 14 Commonwealth realms outside of the UK since he became their head of state in 2022. As Queen Elizabeth last traveled to Australia in 2011, this will also be the first time in 13 years that the country has had its head of state on Australian soil.
