The attention of the Rivers State Police Command has been drawn to the incident of today where the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalaiyi Fubara, GSSRS alleged that the Police in Rivers State were at the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) to cart away sensitive electoral materials meant for the Local Government Elections.  It should be noted that Policemen from the Rivers State Government House were initially deployed to the River State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) but were withdrawn in response to the Federal High Court ruling of September 30, 2024, barring the Police from participating in the scheduled elections.  In a shocking case of revenge, a 30-year-old man, Gopal Singh Bhati, ran over and killed Nakhat Singh Bhati, his father’s murderer, after waiting 22 years for the right moment.  The incident occurred in Bodakdev, where Nakhat, aged 50, was crushed by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle on Tuesday.  Israeli airstrikes target potential Hezbollah successor, Hashem Safieddine A fresh Israeli airstrike in Beirut has targeted Hashem Safieddine, a potential successor to the late Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah. CNN reports that Safieddine is one of the possible successors of late Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli strike last week. The report said it was unclear if the strike killed Safieddine. This is even as nearly two dozen projectiles were identified crossing into Israeli territory from Lebanon after sirens sounded in Haifa and the Galilee region. However, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that about 20 projectiles were detected in the Haifa Bay and Western Galilee areas.  EFCC Arraigns Two for Alleged N24.3m Land Fraud in Uyo   A Federal High Court sitting in Uyo and presided over by Justice Chigozie M. Onah has fixed November 1, 2024 for bail hearing and trial in a matter involving a woman, Josephine Anietie Philip allegedly involved in land racketeering alongside a native doctor, Effiong Okon who allegedly facilitated her criminal activities and benefited financially from it.   The defendants, Philip and Okon were arraigned on Friday September 27, 2024 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, on a six- count charge  bordering on criminal conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of N24, 300, 000.00  (Twenty Four Million, Three Hundred Thousand Naira only). One of the charges against them reads; “That you Josephine Anietie Philip sometime in February, 2024 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did fraudulently obtain the sum of N16, 300, 000 [Sixteen Million, Three Hundred Thousand Naira Onl

 Hawks Arrest Six for R400 Million Eskom, Sasol Tender Fraud Six suspects have been arrested by the Hawks for allegedly defrauding Eskom and Sasol of R400 million in 2017. They allegedly falsified records, fabricated shareholders' agreements, and engaged in fronting, violating the B-BBEE Act. Accused are Mark Smith (61), Alex Roditis (45), Vanessa Chungu (43), Raymond Crozier (62) Guy Le Roux (56) Ronald Hoy (58) and companies NJM Treatment and NDE Services, Dasmar Engineering, Thermo Jet. They appeared in Palm ridge court and were released on R20K bail each. More photos below. 

 Seven police officers from the Johannesburg District Crime Prevention Unit have been arrested on serious charges, including murder, torture, assault, housebreaking, and theft. Those arrested are Sgt. Palmer Philip Machaba and Constables Josephine Baloyi, Thobani Qinisani Mkhwanazi, Thulani Siphiwe Hlatshwayo, Tshepo Chokoe, Andile Keto, and Tubalethu Madwantsi. The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) made the arrests on 1 October 2024, and the officers appeared in court at the Protea Magistrates Court the following day. Their case has been postponed until 7 October 2024, for a bail application.

 Police Sergeant and civilian arrested in connection with the murder of taxi boss A police sergeant and a civilian, aged 46 and 49, respectively, appeared briefly in the Seshego Magistrate's Court on 3 October 2024, in connection with the 2020 murder of Tlou Godfrey Phihlela, a 41-year-old taxi owner. Phihlela was shot multiple times near Seshego Hospital on 18 October 2020. The Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit led an extensive investigation, which identified the suspects in 2024. After obtaining an arrest warrant on 1 October 2024, the suspects were apprehended on 2 October 2024. They opted not to apply for bail, and the case has been postponed until 13 November 2024, for further investigation. Interestingly, further probe revealed that the suspects were allegedly hired by another Seshego taxi owner, who himself fell victim to murder in Polokwane in April 2023.

 In Surat, a 13-year-old girl got pregnant after her 16 year old brother r@ped her repeatedly. The minor disclosed to her parents that she was r@ped by her own teenage brother. The family lives in the Dindoli area, and the siblings’ parents work in separate textile units. A few days ago, the girl, who studies in Class 8, complained of abdominal pain. When her parents took her to the hospital, they were shocked to be informed that she was 16-20 weeks pregnant.  Libya resumes full oil production Libya's state oil company said it was resuming full oil production, nearly two months after halting operations at two of its main fields amid a political crisis, according to AP. The National Oil Corporation said in a statement that it would resume production at the Sharara and El-Feel oil fields , as well as exports from Es Sider, the country's largest port. Libya produces more than 1.2 million barrels of oil per day, and Sharara is the country's largest field, producing up to 300,000 barrels per day. The oil-rich country has been gripped by political turmoil since a NATO-backed uprising toppled and killed Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
