 Sweden To Offer Immigrants $34,000 To Leave Country The Swedish government has said it will start offering certain migrants up to 350,000 Swedish kronor ($34,000) in exchange for returning to their countries of origin from 2026. Migration Minister Johan Forssell made the announcement on Thursday commenting "we are in the midst of a paradigm shift in our migration policy." Immigration has become increasingly controversial in Sweden over recent years, with the right-wing_populist Sweden Democrats coming second in the county's most recent general election in September 2022. While unable to form a government itself, the Sweden Democrats have since been propping up an administration led by Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, from the center-right Moderate Party which came third in the election. US military completes withdrawal from Niger The withdrawal of US troops from Niger is complete, an American official said on Monday, according to AP. A small number of military personnel assigned to guard the US Embassy remain, Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh told reporters. Earlier this year, Niger's ruling junta ended an agreement that allowed US troops to operate in the West African country. A few months later, officials from both countries said in a joint statement that US troops would complete their withdrawal by the middle of September. The US handed over its last military bases in Niger to local authorities last month, but about two dozen American soldiers had remained in Niger, largely for administrative duties related to the withdrawal, Singh said.  Okonjo-Iweala To Seek Second Term As WTO DG Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the first woman and first African to head the World Trade Organization, will seek a second four-year term when her mandate expires next August, her spokesman said Monday. “We can confirm that Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has officially announced her intention to seek a second term as Director-General of the WTO,” spokesman Ismaila Dieng said in a statement.  Police Arrest Three Suspects in Connection with Hijacking, Murder, and Unlicensed Firearms On Sunday, September 15, 2024, police arrested three suspects at Phokoane village in the Nebo policing area for their alleged involvement in murder, hijacking, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. The arrests followed an incident where members of the Nebo and Jane Furse Tracking Team spotted a suspicious white Toyota with four occupants while tracing wanted suspects. As they approached the vehicle, the suspects opened fire, prompting the police to retaliate. Two suspects were shot, one fatally, while the other was taken to a local hospital with injuries. Two additional suspects were apprehended. Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle, driven by the suspects, was reported hijacked in September 2024 in the Nebo policing area. The suspects are scheduled to appear before the Nebo Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. More photos below.

 PCN Seal 666 Illegal Pharmacies In Kaduna The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria has shut 666 illegal medicine shops in Kaduna State for operating without proper registration and failing to adhere to the National Drug Distribution Guidelines. The enforcement action, which targeted open drug markets and unregistered medicine shops, aimed to safeguard public health by ensuring the proper distribution and storage of medicines.
