 Abia banker, two others gunned down in Umuahia A banker with a popular Nigerian bank, identified as Mr Victor has been killed in Umuahia by suspected kidnappers who attempted to kidnap him. The banker was shot dead by the suspected kidnappers at Isi Court junction at Old Umuahia while shopping. It was gathered that the late banker struggled with his attackers who were trying to force him into their vehicle but was shot when he tried to escape from the scene. After shooting him, the kidnappers abandoned their vehicle and snatched another vehicle from another person whom they also shot dead before fleeing with his car. This alarming situation emerged from the Gularghatti area, where local authorities are now grappling with the implications of increased HIV cases. Young men began seeking medical help at the Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre (ICTC) at Ramdatt Joshi Joint Hospital after experiencing severe health issues. Testing revealed that many were HIV positive, prompting an investigation that identified a common link: a 17-year-old girl from a financially disadvantaged family who is reportedly addicted to heroin.  Kenya court clears way for swearing-in of new deputy president Kenya's high court on Thursday lifted orders barring the swearing-in of newly appointed deputy president Kithure Kindiki, whose predecessor has launched legal challenges over his removal from office by impeachment. "Niger will benefit from this latest generation technology... This will allow all of Niger to take advantage of this technology with a very high download speed of 200 megabits per second at a very low cost...  Man Seeks Justice After Alleged Assault Following Dismissal By Turkish Boss Over Salary Dispute In Kaduna Mr Emmanuel Thompson, a former employee of Motech Company, an affiliate of NNPC in Kaduna, has called for justice after alleging that his project manager, a Turkish national, assaulted him when he requested his final salary after being dismissed from the company.  Mr. Emmanuel alleged that during the confrontation, his boss struck him with a helmet, causing an eye injury that has affected his vision.  Following the assault, he stated that the company refused to cover his medical expenses despite his visible condition.  Reps propose bill to increase membership from 360 to 366 The House of Representatives has introduced a bill to amend Section 49 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) to allocate six special seats for women and persons living with disabilities (PWDs). The bill, titled “Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (Sixth Alteration) (Six Special Seats for Special Interest Groups) Bill, 2024 (HB.1811),” was presented for its first reading during plenary on Wednesday. Sponsored by House Spokesman Akintunde Rotimi (Ekiti-APC), the proposed amendment seeks to increase the total number of representatives in the House from 360 to 366, with the six additional seats reserved specifically for women and PWDs. According to the bill, these special seats would be distributed evenly across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, ensuring one representative from each group per region.  Indiana mother arrested after taking the life of teen who opened fire into a large group of people at her daughter's Halloween party. Police in Fort Wayne, Indiana were called to a residence on October 10th to multiple reports of gunfire. When police arrived on scene they discovered 17-year-old, Willie Ivy III, deceased from gunshot wounds. There were also multiple teens suffering from gunshot wounds.  As the investigation unfolded it was revealed that Willie had drawn a weapon and opened fire. 42-year-old, Joanne Eastes, pictured below (the mother of the party organizer) claims she was in her room when the shots rang out. She armed herself and left her room. Once she had taken in what was happening she was forced to neutralize the threat to party goers. There were more than 100 teens at the party. Nine of the party goers were struck when Willie opened fire. Joanne Eastes is being charged with furnishing alcohol to minors, neglect of a dependent and contributing to the delinquency

 A Texas woman has been arrested for taking her 17-month-old daughter's life by throwing her from a hotel balcony.  Police in Galveston, Texas were called to Beachfront Palms Hotel for the report of an "abandoned baby". When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a toddler wrapped in a blanket next to a pool of blood. The baby girl was rushed to the hospital where she was unfortunately pronounced deceased. Doctors also noted 3 puncture wounds on the baby girl's back, under her clothing. As you can imagine, an investigation began immediately and the child was identified as 17-month-old Hannah Yonko. When the police found the mother, 30-year-old Channel Yonko, she was "asking for help and making comments about her baby being sick". It was discovered that Channel and her daughter had been sharing a hotel room with Channel's sister, Mercedes. When police questioned Mercedes, she told police she had left that morning to visit her fiancée at the Victorian

Chairman of the forum, Governor Muhammed Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, read the communiqué. The Northern Governors' Forum meeting also had traditional rulers from the region, led by the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammadu Sa'ad Abubakar III, in attendance.  Unseen CCTV footage shows Liam Payne fainting before tragic fall, claims Argentinian journalist Argentinian journalist Paula Varela has reportedly disclosed new details about Liam Payne's death on air. The broadcast journalist, who hosts Socios del Espectaculo on Canal 13, a Buenos Aires-based TV station, recently stated on her show that CCTV footage captured Payne’s fall at the hotel. Varela also claimed that in the video, which is currently being withheld, Payne appears to faint on the balcony before falling.  She explained: "There is footage that is not being released to the media with the balcony scene where you see that Liam faints and tragically because of where he is, falls from that balcony. If he had been beside his bed he would have fallen on his bed." Though Varela’s comments suggest such footage exists, it has not been made publicly available.
