  Gauteng police have arrested four suspects and recovered stained cash and explosives following ATM bombings in the Katlehong and Thokoza areas recently. Three suspects will appear in the Palm Ridge Court on Monday, 15 July 2024, while another will appear in absentia. He is still in hospital under police guard after he was shot and injured in the hand during a confrontation with the police. The team of investigators also recovered firearms and are in the process of linking the firearms to various crimes within the province. A possibility of these suspects being linked to ATM bombings in other areas and other crimes cannot be ruled out at the stage. A team of experienced detectives from all law enforcement agencies in the province, security personnel and other stakeholders such as the banks worked tirelessly for the past two weeks in order to achieve the breakthrough. Police Nab Ogun Kidnappers, Discover Victims’ Shallow Graves  The Ogun State Police Command said that it had discovered the shallow graves of 71-year-old farmer Adekunle Ifelaja and Ogunyemi Femi, who were allegedly killed by suspected kidnappers in the Ijebu-Igbo area of Ogun State. This follows the arrest of two members of a seven-person criminal gang, Chukwuma Bartholomew and Igwe Monday, who are believed to be responsible for the abductions and murders of the victims. The state command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, informed our correspondent on Saturday that the arrest occurred just five days after the anti-kidnapping squad killed two suspected kidnappers in a gunfight and rescued several victims, including Indian nationals.  Super Bowl champion Jacoby Jones dead at 40 Former NFL wide receiver and kick return specialist Jacoby Jones has died. He was 40. The Baltimore Sun reported Jones passing on Sunday, citing an NFL source with direct knowledge of the situation. Jones spent his final three NFL seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, but he will be remembered for his heroics in Super Bowl XLVII.  Jones hauled in a 56-yard touchdown pass during the game. He opened the second half with a 108-yard kickoff, which helped lift the Ravens to a 34-31 win over the San Francisco 49ers.  Trump rally victim identified as Corey Comperatore, 'hero' shielded wife and girls from bullets Family members identified Corey Comperatore as the rally goer who was killed Saturday in an assassination attempt on former President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.  Comperatore, 50, was a former fire chief for Buffalo Township, a volunteer fire service, local news station WPXI reported. A 53-year-old Indiana woman, Heather Cummings, is being charged alongside her son 24-year-old Clifton Cummings of Norfolk, VA.  The mother/son duo are accused of taking the life of Cleo Luozides inside of her Norfolk, VA senior living facility.  According to reports, Heather held down her mother while Clifton took her life using the strap of his bag to obstruct her breathing. Allegedly Heather told her mother to "just let go, it's for the best," while holding her down. According to staff Cleo was last seen walking the halls and getting something to eat around 5 p.m. June 30th. However, when making rounds at 11:55 p.m., staff found Cleo deceased. Although both Heather and Clifton have confessed to the crime neither have given a motive for their actions. Clifton has been ordered to undergo sanity evaluations to see if he is competent to stand trial. The judge has denied bond for both the mother and son. A preliminary hearing is set for Sept 23rd.

 Sabinus' Father Kidnapped, Security Officer Killed in Gunfight Popular skitmaker Mr. Funny, also known as Sabinus, faced a tragic event on Wednesday night when his father was kidnapped. Sources report that the abduction occurred between 7:30 and 8:00 PM as armed men intercepted Mr. Funny’s father on his way home. A fierce gunfight ensued between the kidnappers and the local security team, Ospac. During the exchange, an Ospac officer was critically injured and died from his injuries the following morning. Additionally, a neighbor was hit by a stray bullet and is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital.

Actress Shannen Doherty, best-known for her roles on TV's original "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Charmed" series, has died at 53. "It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress, Shannen Doherty. In Saturday, July 13 th she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease. The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. New information is revealing that explosives were found in his vehicle and home.  Individuals close to Crooks have come forward and shared that Thomas was a "quiet, and brilliant student that never got in trouble". They are shocked by this news.  7 Years After, Lagos Resumes Monthly Sanitation Cancelled By Ambode  Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, on Sunday, flagged off re-introduction of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise in the state, barely seven years after the campaign was cancelled. Daily Trust reports that in November 2016, Ambode cancelled the sanitation exercise, which was held between 7am and 10am on the last Saturday of every month. Ambode’s Commissioner for Information, Steve Ayorinde,  had explained that considering the status of Lagos as a megacity, it was no longer appropriate to restrict movement for three hours.  Dangote refinery to import crude from Brazil – Report Dangote Petroleum Refinery is set to import a cargo of Brazilian crude, Bloomberg reported on Friday. It said this would add to the large number of overseas barrels of crude feedstock that the Nigerian firm was importing. Indigenous crude oil refiners, including Dangote refinery and modular refineries, as well as local crude producers have repeatedly raised concerns about the low crude oil output from Nigeria. Although the government, through the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, has been making efforts to tackle this, oil production from Nigeria has remained low. This has made it tough for local refiners to get crude, as bulk of the oil produced in-country are exported due to earlier arranged contracts with International Oil Companies operating in Nigeria and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.  Five trapped as building collapses in Osun Five persons were reportedly trapped in the rubble of an uncompleted building that collapsed in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State. The tragedy occurred around 8 a.m. on Sunday, throwing residents of the Sabo community into a state of shock as they thronged to the scene to participate in the rescue operation. An eyewitness, Sani Isyaku, told Vanguard that emergency response officials were joined by residents in the effort to rescue those trapped in the building. He added that some individuals were taken out and rushed in an ambulance to the hospital, while others remained trapped in the debris.  Two Abducted Kaduna Journalists Regain Freedom  Two journalists who were kidnapped by bandits a week ago have regained their freedom. Abdulgafar Alabelewe of the Nation Newspaper and AbdulRaheem Aodu of Blueprint Newspaper were abducted from homes in the Danhonu community in Millennium City of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna on Saturday, July 7th. Although police authorities in the state have not confirmed the development, a relative of one of the victims told Channel Television that they were released on Saturday afternoon, and are on their way to Abuja for medical attention One of the journalists Abdulgafar Alabelewe was released along with his wife and two children who were kidnapped together.  Customs TCIP Generates N575B in 6 Months with 221.13% Revenue Increase The Nigeria Customs Service, Tincan Island Port Command, has generated revenue to the tune of N575,505,612,804.59 from January to June 2024. The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Dera Nnadi, disclosed this to Newsmen during the Commands Half Year Performance Report at the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) Secretariat, Apapa, Lagos on Friday, 12 July, 2024. According to the Area Controller, having the press briefing at the MARAN Secretariat aligns with the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi's policy thrust. He said the revenue of N575.5 billion shows an increase of 221.13% compared to the 2023 fiscal year’s first-half revenue collection of N260,256,942,120.69 Billion.
