  Music icon, Onyeka Onwenu, dies at 72 Legendary Nigerian singer and actress, Onyeka Onwenu has reportedly died at the age of 72. She was said to have died on Tuesday night at the Reddington Hospital in Lagos after slumping at the birthday party of Mrs Stella Okoli. An eyewitness who was at the party confirmed the news. “It is very sad. Onyeka Onwenu just performed at the birthday of Mrs. Stella Okoli today (Tuesday, July 30, 2024), and after performing, she slumped. “She was taken to Reddington Hospital and she couldn’t make it,” the eyewitness said. However, the deceased’s family has yet to announce her death as of press time. Onwenu will be remembered for her music albums such as In The Morning Light and Dancing In The Sun. She also featured in the Half of a Yellow Sun and Lions Heart, among others.

 A suspected drug mule has been arrested by members of the South African Police Service(SAPS) at the OR Tambo International Airport on Tuesday, 30 July 2024.  Police were following up on intelligence that a man aboard an identified aircraft from Sao Paulo - Guarulhos International Airport in Brazil was carrying drugs.  As soon as the identified aircraft landed just before 7am, police identified the mule and took him for questioning while a team searched the aircraft and found a parcel of cocaine worth R1 million.  The cocaine was discovered - wrapped in plastic - leading police to believe that the consignment was strapped to his body.  The man who is a Brazilian national has been detained and charged with drug trafficking.  William L.  August 1: Order soldiers to remain in barracks – Adeyanju writes Chief of Army Staff Activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju on Tuesday, urged the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, to order soldiers to remain in their barracks during the August 1 nationwide protest.
