 FG Commences Construction of 500 Housing Units in Kano The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has begun the construction of 500 housing units in Kano State, named Renewed Hope Estate, located at Lambu Village in Tofa Local Government Area. The project will comprise blocks of 2-bedroom semi-detached, 1-bedroom semi-detached, and 3-bedroom semi-detached bungalows.  The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, visited the site to assess the progress of the project.  British Home Office To Scrap Biometric Residence Card For Nigerians Nigerians living in the UK will no longer receive biometric residence cards (BRCs) or biometric residence permits (BRP) as from December 31, 2024 as the Home office is replacing them with a new online eVisa system. According to the Central Association of Nigerians in the United Kingdom (CANUK), part of the UK government’s programme to replace all physical migration documents with digital versions, the eVisa, has been aggressively promoted throughout 2024 and by the end of the year, such physical documents will replace the current hard copy visa regime altogether.  CANUK noted that it means Nigerians who have BRCs and BRPs will no longer need them as they will now get a digital version, “which saves them from having to carry any physical documentation around”. eVisa is an online record of your immigration status and the conditions of your permission to enter or stay in the UK.  Israel Recovers Bodies Of Six Hostages Held By Hamas, Including American Citizen Israel Defense Forces recovered the bodies of six Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, including one American citizen, Israeli officials said. In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the bodies were located on Saturday in an underground tunnel in the Rafah area. The IDF named the hostages as Carmel Gat, Eden Yerushalmi, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Alexander Lobanov, Almog Sarusi and Master Sgt Ori Danino. After the operation, there are 101 hostages remaining in Gaza. Driving the news: The recovery operation took place on Saturday afternoon local time but it took many hours to officially identify the bodies and notify the families, Israeli officials said.
