Rescues 13 Children From Traffickers, Arrests Suspects By OCHA Brigade Media  13 children have been rescued from suspected child traffickers in Otolo Nnewi by a joint taskforce of Operation Clean And Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade and Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs. The joint taskforce also confiscated fake documents that aided the trafficking.  The children were found malnourished and have been denied education.  Report say that the trafficker adopts and sold children to people from different parts of the country.  Baba Fryo calls out Nasboi over alleged intellectual property theft Veteran Nigerian musician, Baba Fryo has called out upcoming artiste, Nasboi, for allegedly stealing lyrics from his iconic hit, ‘Denge Pose’. Voicing his frustration in now viral video on social media, Baba Fryo demanded proper credit and compensation for his work. This comes after Nasboi released his new track ‘Short Skirt’.  ‘I’m not an Afrobeats artiste’ – Flavour clarifies Ace Nigerian singer, Chinedu Okoli, popularly known as Flavour, has distanced himself from the Afrobeats genre. Appearing on a recent episode of the ‘Afrobeats Podcast’ hosted by Shopsydoo, Flavour explained that he is not bothered about not being credited for the global rise of Nigeria’s Afrobeats genre because he is not an Afrobeats artiste.  Appeal Court upholds reinstatement of Shaibu as Edo Deputy Governor The Appeal Court in Abuja on Tuesday upheld the reinstatement of Philip Shaibu as the Deputy Governor of Edo State. The court upheld the judgement of the Federal High Court, Abuja, which nullified the impeachment of Shaibu as the Deputy Governor of Edo State and ordered his immediate reinstatement. The three-member panel of justices unanimously said Shaibu remained Edo State Deputy Governor. The Appeal Court dismissed the appeal filed by the Edo State House of Assembly against the judgement of the Federal High Court, Abuja, thereby affirming that Shaibu remained the Deputy Governor of Edo State. According to Tribune, the Appeal Court warned that any person aside from Shaibu who attempted to parade themselves as the Deputy Governor of Edo State would face legal consequences.  Abdulazeez Adebayo emerges first Oba of Yoruba community in Enugu Alhaji Abdulazeez Adebayo has been selected as the first ever Oba of the members of the Yoruba community living in Enugu State. Osun-born Adebayo obtained the nod of Yoruba people from the seven states of Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti, Lagos, Kogi and Kwara living in Enugu to make history as the first the person to be installed traditional over the South westerners in the Eastern State.  Traditional worshippers demand new system of oath-taking for public officials Traditional worshippers in Ondo State in south-west Nigeria have demanded recognition for traditional oath-taking for public officers, saying it is more potent and efficacious compared to other faith-related oath-taking. They contended that over the years, public office holders, after they were sworn into office with the Bible for Christians and Quran for Muslims, indulged in corruption and abuse of power and still go scot-free. The Araba Awo of Oke Agbe, Ayobami Ogedengbe, suggested this at the celebration of Isese Day in Akure on Tuesday, explaining that traditional oath-taking would change the narrative as punishment would be immediate and fast.  I’m hale, hearty — Tekno denies collapsing on stage in South Africa Popular Nigerian singer and record producer, Tekno, has denied reports that he collapsed while performing on stage. Reports on Tuesday claimed that Tekno, who is currently on his music tour, collapsed during a live performance in South Africa. In a viral video on the internet, some able-bodied men were seen carrying a singer who collapsed. Reacting on his Instagram page, Tekno said he is hale and hearty. He added that he’s not in South Africa. “Hey guys, I’m hale and hearty and not currently in South Africa. I hope whoever that was in the video is doing well and ok. Thank you, guys.  Fake degrees: Uganda, Kenya demand Nigerian students’ verification Examination boards in Kenya and Uganda are now writing Nigeria to verify records presented by Nigerian candidates seeking admissions into tertiary institutions in their countries. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board made this known in a document for the  2024 policy meeting. JAMB noted in the document that it would not falsify the records of any students while stressing the need to protect Nigeria’s tertiary education from disrepute. The development comes on the back of the Federal Government’s decision to suspend the verification of degree certificates from Uganda, Kenya, Benin Republic, Togo and some other countries over allegations of certificate racketeering.
