 African Development Bank appoints Nnenna Nwabufo as Vice President for Regional Development, Integration and Business Delivery The African Development Bank Group has appointed a Nigerian, Nnenna Nwabufo, as Vice- President for Regional Development, Integration and Business Delivery, with effect from October 4. The President of the AfDB, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, said in a statement by the bank that he was delighted with Nwabufo’s appointment. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Nwabufo has over 33 years of professional experience in financial management, budget planning, human resource management, corporate services and regional operations. She joined the bank’s treasury department in 1991 and went on to hold various managerial roles, including her appointment in May 2015 as acting vice-president for corporate services. In a statement released on Wednesday, October 8, the Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said seeking permission was necessary to avoid misinterpretation. Ewenla was reportedly caught on tape demanding the money before the Ondo timber merchants be allowed to operate. Government sources said the telephone conversation was sent to Governor Aiyedatiwa after the merchants opted for a showdown.  NLC opposes fuel hike, seeks immediate reversal The Nigeria Labour Congress has decried the recent hike in the price of Premium Motor Spirit popularly known as petrol nationwide.  Senate demands increased funding for varsities The Senate, on Tuesday, called on the Federal Government to increase budgetary allocations to federal universities in the 2025 budget to help address the brain drain plaguing Nigerian universities.
