Rescues 13 Children From Traffickers, Arrests Suspects By OCHA Brigade Media  13 children have been rescued from suspected child traffickers in Otolo Nnewi by a joint taskforce of Operation Clean And Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade and Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs. The joint taskforce also confiscated fake documents that aided the trafficking.  The children were found malnourished and have been denied education.  Report say that the trafficker adopts and sold children to people from different parts of the country. INDIAN MAN WALKED INTO A HOSPITAL WITH A LARGE SNAKE DRAPED AROUND HIS NECK. (PHOTO).

 A man in Bihar caused a stir at a hospital on Tuesday when he walked in with a large snake draped around his neck.  The man, Prakash Mandal, had been bitten by the snake and brought it with him so that doctors could identify it and provide the correct treatment. The incident took place in Bhagalpur, where Mandal was bitten by a Russell’s Viper, one of the deadliest snakes in India. Mandal, a 48-year-old daily wage worker, was sleeping at home when the snake attacked him. Fearing he might receive the wrong treatment, he caught the snake and took it to the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital. He kept the bite on his right arm tightly wrapped to prevent the venom from spreading. By the time he arrived at the hospital, bystanders were shocked to see him with the snake around his neck.  Pastor Charles Mudau and two members of the Potters House Word Church, Albert Mushiana and Justice Makushu, appeared in the Tshilwavhusiku Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing charges of animal cruelty after torturing an owl. The trio were sentenced to a fine of R20,000 or 12 months in prison, with the sentence suspended for five years. Limpopo regional spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi said the state and defence entered into a plea and sentence agreement in terms of section 105A of the Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977. They were also ordered to pay a fine of R15,000 or 12 months imprisonment wholly suspended for five years on condition that each accused pays an amount of R7,500 as compensation to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Louis Trichardt. Removal of fuel subsidy and abolishing multiple foreign exchange systems were policies introduced by the current administration on day one in office. Ribadu stated this on Thursday, during the arms destruction exercise conducted by the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) at Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment in Abuja. He explained that the weapons ended up in the hands of non-state actors due to corrupt elements within the security agencies. The NSA condemned security personnel who facilitate the distribution of weapons to terrorists, bandits and other non-state actors.  7 killed in suicide bomber attack at a cafe in Somalia’s capital Seven people died and six others were injured after a suicide bomber detonated an unidentified device at a café outside a police training school in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, police said Thursday. Police say the victims included officers and civilians who were having tea outside the General Kaahiye Police Academy on Thursday, AP reported. The al-Qaeda linked militant group, al-Shabab, claimed responsibility for the attack through a statement published on its affiliate website. The group has in the past carried out attacks in Somalia. Resident Mohamed Ali said he heard a loud blast. “The café was full of people enjoying their tea, and then everything was chaos,” he said. A paramedic at Madina Hospital told The Associated Press that several injured people were receiving treatment. “We are working to rehabilitate the wounded, many of whom sustained severe injuries,” she said. Attorney Michael Senotse Mabunda, 42, Arrested for Alleged R10 Million RAF Fraud  Mabunda, accused of defrauding Road Accident Fund claimants, was served with a summons in connection with a 2019 case at Pretoria North police station. As an attorney, he filed RAF claims on behalf of clients and received R10,562,173.21 into his trust account. However, it’s alleged he failed to transfer these funds to clients, causing significant financial losses. Mabunda appeared in Pretoria Specialized Commercial Crimes Court on 15 October 2024, and the case has been postponed to 26 November 2024, for further proceedings. This incident highlights concerns about attorneys misusing client funds, similar to cases involving attorneys Manfred Chinamasa and Daniel Themba Mabunda, who faced charges of embezzling RAF money from clients. The legal profession is highly regulated, and such actions can lead to severe consequences, including prosecution and disciplinary action by the Legal Practice Council.

A 38-YEAR-OKD WOMAN WAS FOUND DEAD IN A HOME IN SOUTH AFRICA. (PHOTOS).

 A 38-year-old woman, Brenda Maluleka, was found murdered in her home at Ga-Phasha Selatole village According to a 22-year-old witness, she discovered Maluleka's lifeless body in her bedroom earlier today, 17 October 2024.  A local resident revealed that Maluleka's husband had been missing since last week Wednesday. After the incident, he was nowhere to be found in Ga-Phasha Selatole until today.  Forensic experts and police arrived at the scene. Investigations are ongoing. One more photo below.

 Aba power cracks down on energy theft APL Electric Company ("Aba Power"), through its Revenue Protection Department, Feeder Team and security agencies, has ramped up its crackdown on energy theft, leading to the arrest of two individuals involved in illegal meter tampering. The suspects, now in prosecution and awaiting final sentencing by the court, were apprehended as part of an ongoing operation, while several others remain at large. The company continues to intensify efforts to stamp out energy theft across its network. The arests took place at Orji Street, off Umule Road, Aba, Abia State. Among those apprehended was Mr. Isak Adamu, an electrician accused of orchestrating multiple cases of meter tampering. The Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, disclosed these developments at a press briefing held at the Customs Training College in Lagos on Wednesday, 16 October 2024, as part of the service’s ongoing enforcement activities. According to him, the pangolin scales, weighing over 9,493 kg, were intercepted by officers of the service in collaboration with the Wildlife Justice Commission. Scores Injured As CNG-Powered Vehicle Explodes In Edo Tragedy struck Thursday morning in Benin City, the Edo State Capital following the explosion of a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered vehicle at NIPCO filling station located at Aduwawa along the Benin-Auchi Expressway. In a viral video making round on social media, the vehicle was vividly scattered while people around the vicinity ran for dear lives as the loud sound from the explosion created panic among residents in the vicinity. Three persons were said to have sustained various degrees of injuries and have been rushed to a private hospital for medical attention. The explosion is coming on the heels of safety concerns raised about the conversion of petrol-powered vehicles to CNG as advocated for by the Federal Government as a measure to lower the cost of transportation following the removal of fuel subsidy.
