 PRESS RELEASE NNPC Ltd Releases Estimated Pump Prices of PMS from Dangote Refinery, Based on September 2024 Pricing The NNPC Ltd has released estimated prices of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as Petrol (obtained from the Dangote Refinery) in its retail stations across the country.  Defense Lawyer for DGRE Dies in Tragic Car Crash on Douala-Yaoundé Road Willy Likiefac, a defense lawyer representing Cameroon’s military intelligence unit, DGRE, in the highly publicized Martinez Zogo murder case, tragically passed away following a car accident. The incident took place on Saturday, September 14, 2024, as he was traveling back from Yaoundé.  Likiefac was rushed to Douala General Hospital after the accident but sadly could not survive his injuries.  Florida teen accused of shooting his father last year has now been arrested for fatally stabbing his mother. 17-year-old Collin Griffith has been arrested after allegedly attacking and taking the life of his mother, 39-year-old Cathrine Griffith, on September 8th. According to reports, Collin called 911 to report his mother had "accidentally fallen on a knife during an argument  and was bleeding from her neck." The incident occurred at Catherine's mothers home in Polk County, Florida.  As police on scene interviewed Collin he remained cool and calculating telling police "his mother had tried to attack him with the knife before falling on it."  However witnesses described seeing Collin dragging his screaming mother into the home by her hair.  Texas Police officers save 2 young children with only seconds to spare. When officers Ashton Moss and Michael Stephenson arrived at an early morning house fire in Vidor, Texas on Sept 10th, their first question was, "is everyone out".  When a woman on scene frantically told them her two children (ages 7 and 9) were trapped in their room, these two everyday heroes sprang into action. The two young boys were trapped in their room by the flames with their only path of escape blocked by an A/C window unit. However this was not going to stop this determined duo.  Officer Stephenson grabbed the unit and began to use brute force to break it loose from its mounting.  Fatal Crash on D2945 Road Claims Five Lives A devastating car accident occurred on Sunday morning around 03:00 on D2945 Road between Mgobobodzi and Madadeni, resulting in the loss of five lives. The sedan carrying the victims overturned, causing a fire that left the occupants burnt beyond recognition. One person survived the crash and is receiving critical care at a hospital. The cause of the accident is currently unknown, and an investigation is underway. The State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Ikechukwu Obi, made this announcement in a statement issued on Saturday in Enugu. Obi said that individuals and organisations intending to engage in medical services, including other health outreaches, should apply and obtain permit from the ministry. According to him, the ban was in line with Governor Peter Mbah’s efforts at ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the people of the state.   The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has declared 281 inmates missing after evacuation of inmates by officers of the service with support from sister security agencies to a safe and secure facility. This is contained in a statement issued by the Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO, Mr Abubakar Umar on Sunday in Abuja. The NCoS also said that seven other inmates had been recaptured.   Man who stabbed Comoros president found dead in prison The man who was arrested for attacking the Comoros president with a knife on Friday has been found dead in prison, the authorities there say. The attack took place during a funeral for a well-known religious leader and injured President Azali Assoumani's hand. National prosecutor Ali Mohamed Djounaid said that after being arrested the attacker had been isolated in a cell to calm him down. He said a lifeless body was found lying on the floor of the cell on Saturday morning. A doctor declared him dead.  School Fees Increment By FG, Lagos Illegal – Falana Human Rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, has condemned the recent increment in school fees by the federal and Lagos state governments, describing the development as illegal. Vanguard reports that the federal government had in July 2023 increased fees for Unity Schools from N45,000 to N100,000 per term, an increase by over 120%. In a similar fashion, the Lagos State government, yesterday, announced N100,000 as the new fees for state-owned boarding schools. It was previously N35,000. Falana’s reaction, weekend, described it as a violation of the Child’s Rights Act and Lagos State Child’s Rights Law. He lamented that with the increase being above the minimum wage of N70,000, “a worker can no longer sponsor even one child either in the Unity School or any secondary school in Lagos State.” He vowed to challenge the decision in the appropriate High Courts.  Haiti confirms 24 killed in 'horrible' gas truck blast A fuel truck explosion on a road in Haiti's southern peninsula killed 24 people and left half of the 40 injured survivors with third-degree burns, the government said. Haiti Prime Minister Garry Conille visited the site, near the coastal city of Miragoane in the department of Nippes, and said some of the most seriously injured victims were evacuated by helicopter to receive specialized care.
