 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE PRESIDENT TINUBU SACKS NNAMDI AZIKIWE UNIVERSITY COUNCIL, VC AND REGISTRAR,REMOVES PRO-CHANCELLOR UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES IN OTUKPO   President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the dissolution of the Governing Council of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Anambra State, and the removal of Prof. Bernard Ifeanyi Odoh, the new Vice Chancellor, and Mrs. Rosemary Ifoema Nwokike, the registrar.   The council, led by Ambassador Greg Ozumba Mbadiwe, included five other members: Hafiz Oladejo, Augustine Onyedebelu, and Engr. Amioleran Osahon, and Rtd. Gen. Funsho Oyeneyin.   The sacking of the governing council and officials followed reports that the council illegally appointed an unqualified vice-chancellor without following due process.   After the controversial appointment, the Federal Government stepped in to address tensions between the university's Senate and the governing council of the 33-year-old institution.    The government expressed concern ov

 Messi to Have New Manager as Tata Martino Resigns from Inter Miami


Lionel Messi will work under a new manager next season following Gerardo "Tata" Martino's resignation as head coach of Inter Miami CF. 


Martino stepped down for personal reasons, despite having one year remaining on his contract. The former Barcelona and Mexico manager is expected to address the media in a press conference on Friday, alongside co-owner Jorge Mas and president of football operations Raúl Sanllehi.


Martino's departure comes just weeks after Messi and Inter Miami were eliminated in the first round of the MLS playoffs, suffering a defeat to Atlanta United FC. Martino joined the team in June 2023, replacing Phil Neville, and during his tenure, he led Miami to win the 2023 Leagues Cup, the 2024 Supporters' Shield, and set a league record for most points in a single season in 2024.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
