WAEC Blacklists 13 Schools and 14 Supervisors in Kogi Over Alleged Malpractices
The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has blacklisted 13 schools and 14 supervisors in Kogi State over allegations of examination malpractices. This was revealed by the state’s Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, during a meeting in Lokoja with principals and supervisors implicated in the misconduct.
Jones stated that any principals, teachers, or supervisors found guilty of aiding or abetting examination malpractices would face prosecution under Kogi State’s Education Law and related statutes, passed in 2020. He emphasized that such offenses are criminal and will be handled accordingly.
A committee led by the Permanent Secretary has been established to investigate those indicted by WAEC, with legal action to be taken against anyone found responsible. Jones further underscored the state government’s significant investment in education and its zero-tolerance policy toward malpractice, describing individuals involved in such activities as enemies of the state.
Dr. Jibrin Seidu Alhaji, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, urged principals and supervisors to avoid actions that could tarnish the reputation of Kogi State’s education system.
