 Putin and Senegal's Faye hold phone talk on counterterrorism Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Senegalese counterpart Bassirou Diomaye Faye discussed counterterrorism efforts in the Sahara-Sahel and West Africa during a Friday call, the Kremlin said, Anadolu Agency reported. The leaders emphasized strengthening Russian-Senegalese ties in trade, investment, and joint projects, particularly in energy, transportation and agriculture, the presidential office said in a statement. "The situation in the Sahara-Sahel and West Africa region was reviewed, focusing on instability caused by terrorist groups," the readout said. Putin also invited Faye to visit Russia. The call coincided with news that Faye’s ruling party won a large majority in parliament in this week’s elections, according to provisional results announced Thursday.

Famous Nigerian music star Yemi Alade has blown hot on a Nigerian media station, CoolFm for reportedly taking down all her songs


In a lengthy thread, the Grammy awards nominee lamented her ordeal and the genesis of the issue between the media station.


According to Yemi Alade, the rift was caused by her absence at one of their events in December and she had apologized for the absence


Calling the media station fake, Alade slammed them for being petty after refusing her apology and reconciliation moves.


Recall that Yemi Alade bagged her first Grammy Awards nomination this year.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
