Hisbah Destroys 170 Bottles of Confiscated Alcohol in Yobe
Operatives of the Yobe State Hisbah Board have destroyed over 170 bottles of assorted alcohol, valued at more than N400,000, following their confiscation during a raid in Gashu’a town, Bade Local Government Area.
The destruction was led by the Chairman of Bade LGA, Ibrahim Babagana Yurema, who explained that the alcohol was seized during a Hisbah patrol at a well-known hotel in the area. Yurema expressed concern over the growing issue of youth consuming intoxicants, emphasizing that Islam prohibits the consumption of alcohol and substances that impair judgment. He vowed that the local government would intensify efforts to combat such activities, warning that both sellers and consumers of alcohol would be targeted.
Malam Isah Ibrahim, the Yobe North Zonal Commandant of Hisbah, added that the seller of the confiscated alcohol had been convicted by a Sharia Court and sentenced to a correctional facility. The court also ordered the destruction of the seized items.
