INDIA: PRINCIPAL OF A GOVT SCHOOL WAS CAUGHT ON CAMERA STEALING EGGS MEANT FOR THE CHILDREN'S MIDDAY MEALS.(PHOTO).

The principal of a government school in Vaishali district, Bihar, was caught on camera stealing eggs meant for the children’s midday meals.

The incident occurred at a middle school in Rikhar village, Lalganj block, and the video of the act, said to be from December 12, has since gone viral on social media. The principal, identified as Suresh Sahani, was seen putting the eggs into his bag and taking them away, sparking outrage among parents and the local community.

Following the video’s circulation, the state education department launched an investigation and confirmed the authenticity of the footage. In a notice issued to Sahani, the department questioned why an FIR should not be filed against him for theft. The notice also criticized the principal for tarnishing the reputation of the education department. Parents of students staged protests, demanding the immediate removal of the principal from his post.

In his defense, Sahani denied the allegations, claiming that he did not take the eggs home but handed them over to the school’s cook. However, his explanation failed to convince the protesting parents, who continue to demand strict action against him. The incident has raised concerns about accountability and transparency in the management of midday meal schemes in government schools.

This incident has highlighted the need for stronger measures to ensure that resources meant for students reach them without any mismanagement or corruption. The state education department has assured the public that appropriate action will be taken against those found guilty, emphasizing its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the midday meal program.
