 Anti-French protests break out in Chad Hundreds of people marched in Chad on Friday to call for the withdrawal of French troops from the country, a week after the Central African country ended a military agreement with its former colonial ruler, AP reported. Protesters in the capital, N’Djamena, chanted “Chad for us, France out!” with some holding banners that read, “We do not want to see a single French person in Chad.” Last week, Chad announced in a statement it would end a defense cooperation agreement with France to redefine its strategic partnerships in line with national priorities.  Kenya denies claims of police resignations in Haiti mission Kenya's police chief has denied media reports that more than a dozen Kenyan police officers deployed in Haiti have resigned over unpaid wages for the past three months, Anadolu reported. Citizen TV, a leading Kenyan media outlet which spoke to some of the officers on the ground, reported that those affected are still serving as they await a formal response to their resignations. The officers claimed that delays in receiving their promised salaries had pushed them to take this step.  WHO sends experts to diagnose unknown disease in DR Congo The World Health Organization said on Friday it is deploying experts to support health authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo to investigate an as-yet undiagnosed disease linked to multiple deaths in a remote area of the country, Reuters reported. The WHO experts are on their way to Panzi, a locality in the southwestern Kwango province, where they will deliver essential medicines and diagnostic kits to help analyse the cause of the illness. Laboratory tests are being conducted to determine the cause, the WHO said, adding that it would share more information as soon as it was available. Their provisional release on Friday has been seen as an attempt to calm the country’s political climate in the wake of the controversial appointment of Gen. Abdoulaye Maïga as prime minister. Mali has been ruled by military leaders since the junta seized power in 2020 and staged another coup the following year. The 11 individuals had been arrested on June 20 during an “illegal” meeting held during a period when all political party activities had been banned.  A 13-year-old girl loses balance and slips out of ferris wheel's gondola, left hanging dangerously in air A frightening incident took place at a fair in Uttar Pradesh when a 13-year-old girl was seen hanging dangerously from a high Ferris wheel. The event occurred on Wednesday in Rakehti village, located in the Nighasan area of Lakhimpur Kheri district, around 130 kilometers from Lucknow. As the Ferris wheel started to move, the girl lost her balance and slipped out of her gondola, leaving her hanging by an iron rod,ToI report reported. She hung there for about a minute before the operator was able to stop the Ferris wheel and rescue her safely. Four persons were injured when they fell off a bucket seat of a Ferris wheel at a crowded Durga Puja pandal at Telephone Bhawan here on Friday, police said. The accident took place when the safety bar of the ride malfunctioned, resulting in the fall, they added.

 Bandits attack Taraba governor’s mother and sister Tragedy struck on Thursday along Kente road in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba when gunmen suspected to be bandits ambushed the mother of the state governor, Jumai Kefas, and his sister, Atsi Kefas. The incident, confirmed by intelligence sources, turned chaotic when a police officer assigned to escort the family accidentally shot Atsi Kefas while attempting to repel the attackers. The family was travelling through an area increasingly plagued by bandit activities when the incident occurred. Online news outfit, Zagozola, reports that following the attack, troops promptly intervened to rescue the victims. According to the report, Governor Kefas’ mother and sister were airlifted to safety via an air ambulance. The latest filing, submitted on Friday to the Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, includes 12 new counts under the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015.
