 Katsina woman rewarded with N500,000 for display of honesty A woman identified as Malama Amina Abdulkadir-Yanmaman has been rewarded with N500,000 and certificate of commendation for returning N748,320 wrongly credited to her account to the coffers of Katsina state government. Abdulkadir-Yanmaman was wrongly credited with N748,320 meant for the Federal Government’s Home Grown School feeding programme in the state, according to Executive Director, Katsina State Social Investment Programme Agency (KASIPA), Dr Mudassir Nasir.  Angola to host DRC, Rwanda peace talks Ceasefire-broker Angola will host a summit on December 15 to advance peace talks between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda about the DRC's troubled east, the presidency said on Monday, AFP reported. Since 2021 the Kigali-backed and largely ethnic Tutsi M23 rebel militia has seized swathes of the eastern DRC, displacing thousands and triggering a humanitarian crisis. In early August, Angola mediated a fragile truce that stabilised the situation at the front line. But since the end of October, the M23 has been on the march again, and continued to carry out localised offensives. Despite violations of the ceasefire, the DRC and Rwanda are maintaining diplomatic dialogue through Angola's mediation.  EFCC Makes Single Largest Asset Recovery till Date Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie, on Monday,  December 2, 2024 gave a ruling on a final forfeiture of an estate in Abuja  measuring 150,500 square metres and containing 753 Units of duplexes and other apartments.  This is the  single largest  asset recovery by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, since its inception in 2003.   The Estate rests on on Plot 109 Cadastral Zone C09, Lokogoma District, Abuja. The forfeiture of the property to the federal government by a former top brass of the government was pursuant to EFCC’s mandate and policy directive of ensuring that the corrupt and fraudulent do not enjoy the proceeds of their unlawful activities.   Pastor who trained as MMA fighter holds off axe-wielding attacker at his church An axe-wielding burglar got more than they bargained for when they broke into a church on Thanksgiving – and came face to face with a pastor who was trained in martial arts, police say Pastor Nick Neves responded to an alarm that had gone off at First Family Church in Antioch, California, in the early hours of Thanksgiving morning, the Antioch Police Department said in a Facebook post. When the 46-year-old pastor arrived, he discovered the burglar and ordered him to stop. “I shouted at him to stop, and that the police were on their way, and he ran and I grabbed a hold of him and we ended up wrestling in the parking lot of the church,” Neves told NBC News. Jacinta Ighoito, Chairperson of the Albinism Association of Nigeria (ASN), made the disclosure in Makurdi over the weekend.
