 Eleven Indian nationals and one other person were found dead at a restaurant in Gudauri, a mountain resort in Georgia, on December 13.  According to the Indian Embassy in Tbilisi, all victims were employed at the restaurant. Georgian authorities have ruled out violence and believe the deaths were caused by carbon monoxide poisoning. In a statement issued on December 16, the Indian Embassy expressed deep sadness over the incident and extended condolences to the victims’ families. “The Embassy is working closely with local authorities to repatriate the mortal remains to India and is in contact with the bereaved families to provide all possible support,” the statement read. The bodies were discovered in a resting area on the second floor of the restaurant.  Two New York men pass away after using bat feces as fertilizer for their Marijuana plants. Two men from Rochester, New York have passed away after the bat guano they used to fertilize their Marijuana plants, released a harmful fungus. The two men inadvertently breathed in spores of the Histoplasma Capsulatum fungus during the fertilization process leading to a condition known as Histoplasmosis.  Their symptoms, before their untimely passing, included chronic cough, blood poisoning and respiratory failure. One man was 59-years-old and the other was 64-years-old . The two men contracted the condition independent of each other, with one man obtaining his guano online while the other collected it from his own attic. Although guano is a popular fertilizer for use in Marijuana plants, experts warn against it due to the potential dangers.

 A 21-year-old man, identified as Ritik Verma, was beaten to death after being caught with another man’s wife at a house in Delhi’s Shastri Park area on Monday. The incident occurred around 11 am when the woman’s husband discovered Ritik and his wife in a compromising situation, police said. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Rakesh Paweriya, the enraged husband brutally assaulted both Ritik and his wife. Witnesses and family members claim the violence was severe. Bunty, Ritik’s uncle, alleged that the attackers tortured Ritik, tore his nails, and inflicted injuries all over his body. A neighbour confirmed that more than one person was involved in the assault.  Customs officials at Chennai Airport have arrested an Air India cabin crew member and a passenger for attempting to smuggle 1.7 kilograms of 24-carat gold into India.  The gold, valued at over ₹1 crore, was concealed in compound form within the crew member’s undergarments.  The arrests occurred after the flight from Dubai landed in Chennai on Sunday. Upon interception, the passenger admitted to handing over the gold to the cabin crew member during the flight, intending for it to be smuggled out of the airport.  This incident highlights a shift in smuggling tactics, with smugglers now attempting to use airline staff to bypass security measures.  CBN limits POS daily withdrawal to N100,000 The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has introduced a daily cash-out transaction limit of N100,000 per individual customer for Point-of-Sale agents. The bank, in a circular to all deposit money banks (DMBs), microfinance Banks, mobile money operators and super-agents, titled ‘Cash-out limits for agent banking transactions,’ explained that the restriction is in line with the apex bank’s ongoing efforts to advance a cashless economy. “In view of the above, all principals of agents are to comply with the following directives immediately: Issuers shall set a cash withdrawal limit (cash-out) per customer (regardless of channel) to N500,000.00 per week. “Ensure that all agent banking terminals are set to a daily maximum transaction cash-out limit of N100,000.00 per customer, and ensure that each agent’s daily cumulative cash-out limit shall not exceed N1,200,000.00,” it said.
