 I killed my 41-day-old son under a spell – Trainee herbalist A trainee herbalist, Ifagbenga Taiwo, who was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly slaughtering his 41-day-old son in the Keesi area of Adatan, Abeokuta, the state capital, has disclosed that he carried out the act under a spell. The incident occurred last Monday after the baby’s mother, Raimat Wasilat, laid him on a bed while washing clothes outside their home. Wasilat was said to have returned to the room and met his son with a slit throat, prompting her to raise the alarm, which attracted their neighbours and the police. The chairman and Sole Administrator of Pacesetter Transport Service (PTS), Hon. Russian investigators said on Sunday that two criminal cases have been opened into possible safety violations after the 136-metre Volgoneft 212 tanker, which had 15 people on board at the time of the storm, was destroyed and the vessel's bow sank. The boat was built in 1969 and was significantly damaged before running aground, according to Russian officials. "There was a spill of petroleum products," Russia's water transport agency, Rosmorrechflot, said. A second Russian-flagged ship, the 132-metre Volgoneft 239, was left drifting after sustaining damage in the weather, Russia's emergency ministry said.   Fake travel agent Yusuf arrested for alleged N11m Canadian Visa scam Operatives of the Zone 2 Police Command in Lagos have arrested a suspected fake travel agent, 32-year-old Balogun Olamide Yusuf, for allegedly defrauding a visa seeker, Mrs Kolawole Olorunjuwon, of N11 million under false pretences. According to police reports, Yusuf allegedly promised to procure a Canadian visa for the complainant but failed to deliver on his promise. Instead, he reportedly converted the funds to personal use and fled. Following the development, the complainant filed a petition with the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, who directed officers to track and apprehend the suspect. Yusuf was eventually arrested at a hideout in Lagos through intelligence gathering and tracking.  Mauritius police issue arrest order for former central bank governor Police in Mauritius have issued an order for the arrest of the Indian Ocean islands' former central bank governor, in connection to an inquiry into a conspiracy to defraud case, Reuters reported. The action, by the police anti-money laundering unit, is the first significant one from the government of Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, who said last week the outgoing government had falsified the country's gross domestic product (GDP), budget deficit and public debt figures for years. The former central bank governor, Harvesh Kumar Seegolam, was out of the country and would be arrested as soon as he returned, police said in a notice in Mauritius newspapers on Sunday.
