U.S. lawmakers slam State Department for denying Nigerians, Ghanaians visas at higher rates than Asian applicants Three U.S. lawmakers flayed the State Department under Anthony Blinken for rejecting a huge chunk of student visa applications filed by Nigerians, Ghanaians and Kenyans while approving those of their Asian counterparts by a margin so wide that the lawmakers requested a briefing. Gwen Moore, Sheila Jackson Lee and Sara Jacobs sent a scathing letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken on January 24 to explain the wide disparity between the 54 per cent study visa denials of African students and 10 per cent rejection rate for the same demographic in Europe and less than 35 per cent in other regions across the world. The letter validated concerns that the State Department deliberately discriminated against African students and favoured their Asian counterparts whose native countries, like Bangladesh and Honduras, did not fare economically better than the marginalised Africans.

In court documents filed in New York, Drake’s company, Frozen Moments LLC, alleges the two companies orchestrated a scheme involving bots, payola, and other tactics to boost the song’s popularity artificially. UK SUPREME COURT CONSIDERS CASE ON THE DEFINITION OF 'WOMAN'. (PHOTO).

Image
UK Supreme Court Considers Case on the Definition of 'Woman' The UK Supreme Court began hearing a significant case on Tuesday, addressing a long-standing dispute between campaigners and the Scottish government over the legal definition of a "woman." The case, initiated by the group For Women Scotland, argues that sex is biologically fixed and immutable, a stance that could have far-reaching implications for debates surrounding trans rights and the legal distinctions between sex and gender in the UK. The outcome of the case could influence the country’s gender-recognition process and access to single-sex spaces for trans individuals. The campaigners contend that the definitions of "woman" in the UK's 2010 Equality Act and the 2004 Gender Recognition Act are incompatible. The 2010 Equality Act prohibits discrimination based on characteristics like sex, gender, and gender reassignment, defining a woman as “a female of any age.” In contrast, the 2004 Act al

Kuye emphasized that the 1959 Act, which consists of only six sections, is outdated and lacks the framework necessary for MoFI to operate efficiently in modern Nigeria. He highlighted that the proposed new Act would introduce a comprehensive framework with 49 sections, addressing the conduct, management, and custodians
