Mississippi woman takes ex husband's life at the courthouse after their divorce is finalized. Husband had an open case in courts for domestic violence after shooting his wife 5 times just a year earlier.
62-year-old James Saucier and his estranged wife, 49-year-old Tanya, had experienced a volitale relationship. The current victim, James, was facing domestic violence charges in an upcoming March trial in which he was accused of shooting Tonya 5 times last year. James's attorney claims he had acted in self defense in regards to that case.
It was because of this sordid past that arrangements had been made for neither participant to have contact with each other as they went through divorce proceedings on Tuesday, December 17th.
The Pearl River County Mississippi Chancery court had arranged for Tanya to arrive at 10 a.m. and go through the necessary steps on her end. Tanya was then ordered to leave the premises before James's scheduled 11 a.m. appearance.
After finalizing divorce papers, James was exiting the court house with Tanya's attorney, Jansen Owen. Neither man could or would have expected the shocking incident which was about to unfold.
Tanya had laid in waiting in a vehicle outside of the courthouse. When she saw James exiting the courthouse she approached him and opened fire. She fired several shots which struck James before approaching her attorney who was then able to pin her against a vehicle.
At this point, an officer with the drug court program ran over and was able to apprehend Tanya until Poplarville PD could take her into custody.
As this drama was unfolding, attorney Jansen Owens alongside employees with the Chancery Clerks office attempted to render first aid to James.
According to eyewitnesses, the clerks realized that James was suffering from life ending injuries and tried to soothe the dying man. One clerk told James, "All you have to do is run to Jesus". After this.... James squeezed her hand twice before closing his eyes for the last time on this Earth. Everyone has praised the heroic actions of all court personnel and attorneys as they subdued the suspect and comforted the dying man.
Tanya Saucier is being held at Lenoir Rowell Criminal Justice Center in Poplarville, Mississippi on Murder Charges.
Our thoughts are with the families of everyone involved in this shocking and tragic incident.
