 Peter Obi To Pay Dele Farotimi’s ₦30 Million Bail Fee Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has said he would meet the bail conditions of human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi.Dele Farotimi was granted bail in his alleged defamation case against Afe Babalola by Ekiti Magistrate Court on Friday. The bail conditions include ₦30 million bond, 2 sureties (one shall be a house owner), submit his passport and shall not grant any media interview. Peter Obi‘s decision to meet Farotimi’s bail condition was communicated by former spokesman of his presidential campaign organization, in 2023, Tanko Yunusa. Yunusa disclosed this in a brief statement on his X handle, on Friday. PERSONNEL WELFARE: POLICE UNVEILS NPF INSURANCE COMPANY LIMITED TO SERVE OFFICERS, PUBLIC


The Nigeria Police Force hereby announces the official unveiling of the NPF Insurance Co. Ltd, a groundbreaking initiative designed to safeguard the welfare of police personnel and extend comprehensive insurance services to the general public. The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for Monday, December 23rd, 2024, at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja by 11:00am.


Recognizing the indispensable role of police officers in maintaining national security, NPF Insurance Co. Ltd aims to provide robust financial protection and support to its officers, ensuring their well-being and security as part of the commitment to the welfare of police personnel who are faced with risks daily in a bid to protect citizens and uphold law and order.


In addition to serving the needs of police officers, NPF Insurance Co. Ltd will also cater to the insurance requirements of all members of the public. By offering a range of insurance products tailored to diverse needs, the company seeks to enhance national security and provide reliable financial solutions to Nigerians across the nation.


The unveiling event will be graced by esteemed dignitaries, including the Honourable Minister of Police Affairs, His Excellency Sen. Ibrahim Gaidam as Special Guest of Honour, alongside Executive Governors from all 36 states; the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike; Distinguished Senators and Members of the House of Representatives; and Chairman Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu, Rtd, amongst others. 


Under the leadership of the 22nd Indigenous Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, the Nigeria Police Force reaffirms its dedication to enhancing the welfare of its officers and strengthening the security infrastructure of the nation.   SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
