Profile of Abimbola Owoade, Newly Appointed Alaafin of Oyo
In a landmark decision, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has officially appointed Prince Abimbola Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo.
This prestigious role marks the pinnacle of Prince Owoade’s remarkable career, community involvement, and dedication to preserving Yoruba culture.
Prince Owoade is a Nigerian-Canadian entrepreneur, philanthropist, and project management professional, hailing from the esteemed Owoade-Agunloye royal family of Oyo town. He is a descendant of Aremo Aderounmu Iyanda Owoade from Agure Compound in Oyo town.
He has a strong academic foundation, having completed his secondary education at Baptist High School in Saki, Oyo State in 1992. Owoade pursued Mechanical Engineering, obtaining his National and Higher National Diplomas from The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro and The Polytechnic, Ibadan. He furthered his studies in the United Kingdom, earning a BSc and MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sunderland and Northumbria University, respectively. He also became a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) in 2015.
Owoade's professional career has seen him serve in leadership roles, including as a Planning Engineer at Oil Reach Company in Glasgow and as a Project Coordinator at Manitoba Hydro in Canada.
With a passion for philanthropy and community development, Owoade has made significant contributions to positive social change and empowerment. His global experience, educational qualifications, and leadership skills are expected to bring new vision, unity, and progress to the Oyo Kingdom under his reign.
