Ouattara wants 'to continue' as Côte d'Ivoire's President Côte d'Ivoire President Alassane Ouattara said on Thursday he would like to continue serving his country as president but emphasised that his party had not yet made a formal decision on its candidate for this year's election, TRT Afrika reported. Ouattara, 83, was re-elected for a third term in 2020 following a 2016 constitutional referendum allowing him to extend his rule. During the last election, Ouattara had argued that the approval of the new constitution allowed him to restart his mandate. He has previously said he would like to step down, but also suggested he would need old rivals to commit to withdrawing from politics too. "I am in good health and eager to continue serving my country," he said in an address to the diplomatic corps in Abidjan, the strongest signal yet that he plans to stand again.  Cross River Commissioner Robert Ewa Passes Away After Attending Executive Meeting

The Cross River State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Robert Ewa, has passed away. His death was confirmed by Nsa Gill, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Bassey Otu.

Ewa reportedly died on Wednesday evening at the Arubah Specialist Hospital in Calabar, shortly after attending a state executive council meeting presided over by the governor.

According to Gill, Ewa actively participated in the meeting before excusing himself. "He contributed during the presentation and later stepped out. His driver took him to a clinic, but we later received the shocking news from the hospital that he had passed away," Gill said.

The governor was deeply saddened by the news, and an official statement is expected to be released soon.

Ewa had a distinguished career in public service, previously serving as Secretary and later Chairman of the Boki Local Government Council. He also held roles as Special Adviser on Community Relations and Secretary of the Anti-Deforestation Task Force.
