Ouattara wants 'to continue' as Côte d'Ivoire's President Côte d'Ivoire President Alassane Ouattara said on Thursday he would like to continue serving his country as president but emphasised that his party had not yet made a formal decision on its candidate for this year's election, TRT Afrika reported. Ouattara, 83, was re-elected for a third term in 2020 following a 2016 constitutional referendum allowing him to extend his rule. During the last election, Ouattara had argued that the approval of the new constitution allowed him to restart his mandate. He has previously said he would like to step down, but also suggested he would need old rivals to commit to withdrawing from politics too. "I am in good health and eager to continue serving my country," he said in an address to the diplomatic corps in Abidjan, the strongest signal yet that he plans to stand again.  Teenage Sisters Arrested in Pakistan for Setting Father Ablaze Over Alleged Rape

Police in Pakistan have detained two teenage sisters in Gujranwala for allegedly killing their father by setting him on fire in retaliation for years of sexual abuse.

The incident occurred on January 1, and the father succumbed to his injuries in a hospital on Tuesday.

According to Rizwan Tariq, a senior police official, the sisters admitted they decided to take a "permanent solution" to end their father’s abuse. They reportedly used petrol from a motorcycle to ignite him while he was asleep.

Tariq revealed that the man had been raping the elder sister for over a year and had attempted to assault the younger sibling twice. Their mothers, both married to the man, were aware of the abuse but were reportedly unaware of the sisters' plan for revenge.

The man’s identity has been withheld to protect the identities of the sisters, who have different mothers.

One of the mothers has been taken into custody, while the other is under investigation.

Authorities plan to present the sisters in court after completing their investigation, Tariq confirmed.
