NUC Approves Six New Academic Programs for Plateau State University

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved six new academic programs for Plateau State University Bokkos (PLASU).

Speaking at the 92nd regular Senate meeting on January 10, 2025, the Acting Vice Chancellor and Senate Chairman, Professor Shedrack Gaya Best, announced the approval of degrees in Medical Sciences (MBBS), Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharm D.), Statistics (B.Sc.), and Religious Studies (B.A.).

Additionally, the university received endorsements from professional bodies for its new programs in Law and Nursing Sciences.

Prof. Best expressed pride in this achievement, stating, “We have successfully secured approval from the NUC for all these programs.”

The approval comes after a series of resource verification visits conducted by the NUC last year to evaluate PLASU's readiness to introduce the new courses.

He attributed the milestone to the unwavering support of Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, whose dedication to the university’s development has been instrumental.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Governor for his consistent commitment to the university’s progress,” Prof. Best remarked. “This success would not have been possible without his leadership and support.”
