 Marwa seeks more NASS support, defends N67.5B 2025 NDLEA budget . Senate, House committees commend Agency’s performance, assure of adequate support Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) has expressed appreciation to the National Assembly especially the Senate and House Committees on Narcotic Drugs for their commitment to the nation’s fight against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking while he appealed for their continued support to enhance the capacity and capability of the Agency to deliver on its mandate. Marwa made the appeal on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th January when he led his management team to defend the 2025 budget proposal of the Agency before the House Committee on Narcotic Drugs and Senate Committee on Drugs and Narcotics respectively. REPORT OF RELEASE OF ABDUCTED/KIDNAPPED VICTIMS: ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND EXPRESSES WILLINGNESS TO WORK WITH THE VICTIMS FOR NECESSARY ACTION


Anambra State Police Command has expressed willingness to work with the victims of abduction/kidnap for necessary action, especially in the efforts of the Command to continue to deny these criminals the space to wreak havoc and to create a safer environment for citizens in the State. 


The Command demonstrates this commitment in response to a publication in the Social media of the release of the two Reverend Sisters recently abducted along Ufuma Road, Orumba North Local Government and a video of an alleged escape of Mr Onyebuchi Okocha (popularly known as Onyeze Jesus) from a criminal hideout. 


To this end, the Command while waiting for the victims to recuperate for possible debriefing by the investigating Officers assures improved security dominance and surveillance operations targeted to enhance safety across the state to deter criminal activities and ensure public safety.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
