 M23 says hundreds of Burundi soldiers captured in latest Congo offensive The Rwanda-backed M23 group has captured hundreds of Burundian soldiers during its latest offensive in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a rebel official said, as clashes continued despite a warning from the Trump administration. Last week M23 entered the strategic town of Uvira near the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept". Rwanda denies supporting M23 and has blamed Congolese and Burundian forces for the renewed fighting.  95% of Kaduna votes will go to APC, Uba Sani tells Tinubu


Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, has promised President Bola Tinubu that the state will deliver 95 percent of votes to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.


Sani spoke on Saturday at a mega rally held at the Murtala Square in Kaduna, where four members of the state house of assembly, five house of representatives lawmakers, and thousands of their supporters defected to the APC.


The defections bring the party’s representation in the house of representatives from Kaduna to 13, leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with three. In the state assembly, the APC now has 26 members against PDP’s eight.


“We don’t have any opposition in Kaduna,” Sani said.


“I promised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu some months ago that we were looking at 80 percent of the votes.


“But today, I have shifted my ground; about 95 percent of the total votes in Kaduna state will go to APC in 2027.”
