 Married Zimbabwean Bouncer Killed in Love Triangle Incident A Zimbabwean bouncer, Emmanuel Mahamba, was killed in Rivonia, Johannesburg, after being run over multiple times by a Ugandan man in a Ford Ranger. Reports say Emmanuel was having an affair with a woman named Thombizodzwa, who was also involved with the Ugandan man. Out of anger, the suspect allegedly hit Emmanuel twice and then drove over him seven times. Emmanuel was married and lived in Centurion. He was originally from Mvuma, Zimbabwe.  Yahaya Bello Petitions IGP Over Alleged Defamation by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has filed a petition with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) against suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, accusing her of making defamatory statements during a political rally. The petition, drafted by Bello's solicitor, Mr. N.A. Abubakar Esq., demands the senator substantiate her claims or face arrest and prosecution for criminal defamation and incitement.  Fairfield, Illinois- A former Fairfield Community High School volunteer tennis coach has been arrested for Aggravated S*xual Assault with a student. 38-year-old Joshua Rockett was arrested on April 14th by the Fairfield Police. According to reports, Rockett is being charged in connection to allegations of S*xual Assault to a student under his care and trust.  The minor, who is a student at Fairfield High School, is over 13 years of age but under 17.  Sudan: Rapid Support Forces leader announces rival government The commander of the Rapid Support Forces, a paramilitary group fighting the Sudanese government armed forces for two years, has declared that he would establish an alternative government, two years after war broke out in Sudan in April 2023. “On this anniversary, we proudly declare the establishment of the Government of Peace and Unity,” Dagalo said in a recorded speech, adding that other groups have joined the RSF-led administration, including a faction of the Sudan’s Liberation Movement, which controls parts of Kordofan region, AP reported. The RSF government will rule over parts of the country, including the western Darfur region where the United Nations says recent attacks by the group have killed over 400 people.  Lagos Assembly Urges Enforcement of Tenancy Law to Curb Arbitrary Rent Hikes The Lagos State House of Assembly has directed the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice to enforce the Tenancy Law of Lagos State 2015 to address illegal and excessive rent increases by landlords. The resolution, passed during Tuesday’s plenary session, followed a motion by Hon. Sa’ad Olumoh, who highlighted the growing trend of arbitrary rent hikes across the state. Citing Section 37 of the Tenancy Law, which prohibits unreasonable rent increases and allows tenants to seek legal redress, Olumoh warned that unchecked hikes were exacerbating homelessness in Lagos.  Anambra Woman Killed by Stray Bullet; Vigilante Shooter Arrested A woman was fatally struck by a stray bullet on Tuesday night at Ibeto Junction in Nnewi, Anambra State. The incident occurred when a member of the local vigilante group, Operation Udo Ga Chi, allegedly fired shots while attempting to navigate a traffic jam. Eyewitnesses reported that the vigilante operative began shooting indiscriminately instead of assisting with traffic control. The woman was hit during the gunfire, rushed to a nearby hospital, and later pronounced dead. Nigerian Navy Intercepts Over 1,300 Bags of Smuggled Rice in Ikorodu, Lagos The Nigerian Navy has intercepted 1,306 bags of smuggled foreign parboiled rice in Ikorodu, Lagos State. The operation was conducted by the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT under Operation AWATSE during a routine patrol over the weekend. According to Commodore Paul Nimmyel, Commander of NNS BEECROFT, the Navy’s Quick Response Team pursued the suspects after they attempted to evade a security checkpoint. The operation was successful, with no casualties reported. The seized rice has been handed over to the Nigeria Customs Service for further action, in line with standard procedures.  Israeli strikes kill Hezbollah militant, two others in Lebanon Lebanon reported two dead in separate Israeli strikes on the country’s south Wednesday, as Israel’s military said it had killed a Hezbollah operative, despite a ceasefire between the two sides. A “drone strike launched by the Israeli enemy on a vehicle in Wadi al-Hujair killed one person”, Lebanon’s health ministry said in a statement, referring to an area around 12 kilometres (seven miles) from the border. It later said a separate Israeli strike in Hanin, elsewhere in the south near the border, “killed one person and wounded another”. The Israeli military said its air force “struck and eliminated” a member of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force in the Qantara area, near Wadi al-Hujair.  Kogi Vows Clampdown on Illegal Tax Collectors and Extortionists The Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS) has reiterated its commitment to eliminating illegal tax collection and extortion across the state. Speaking in Lokoja on Wednesday, the Executive Chairman of KGIRS, Alhaji Sule Enehe, warned individuals exploiting transport unions to extort money from motorcycle and tricycle operators to desist or face prosecution. Enehe condemned the activities of these impostors at key junctions and emphasized that only KGIRS is legally empowered to collect state revenue. He called on security agencies to assist in enforcing the law and vowed relentless action against offenders. He also highlighted the state’s ongoing implementation of the Land Use Charge Law, which he said would boost infrastructure, improve public services, and support the development of smart cities in Kogi.

 Parents arrested after their 3-year-old was found cold and crying on the roof of their home. At 11:45 a.m. on April 10th, officers in Glenville, West Virginia responded to a local home. Once on scene, officers observed a small child who was in distress on the roof of the home. According to responding officers, the child was "hunched over from the cold rain, crying and scared". The officers on scene made entry into the home, and after unlocking several doors and smashing a window, were able to rescue the child from the roof.  The child  was determined to be a 3-year-old boy. While inside of the home, officers also discovered another young boy. The second child was in a crib inside of a locked room... Officers reported both children were "covered in feces from the waist down". They also stated there was fecal matter caked on the walls and appeared to have been that way for a long time.  EFCC Arrests 40 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Niger State     Operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested 40 suspected internet fraudsters in Bida and Minna Local Government Areas of Niger State.   They were arrested following credible intelligence that linked them to suspected fraudulent internet activities.   Items recovered from them include three cars, eight power generating sets, one Hisense air conditioner, two power stabilizers, 10 motorcycles, eight laptop computers, four bluetooth speakers and 60 android phones.   Also recovered were fetish items that included three calabashes, adorned with feathers, traditionally made soap and sponge, a bottle of hot drink, 20 cowries, a waist bead and four lady’s underwears.   They would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.  EFCC Arraigns Man for Non-declaration of   £8,020, $704 at Airport  The Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, arraigned one Agudosi  Christopher Okechukwu for alleged non- declaration of the sums of £8,020 (Eight Thousand and Twenty Pounds Sterling)  and $704 ( Seven Hundred and Four United States Dollars)  before Justice Yellim Bogoro of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos. The defendant was arrested in December 2024 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos by operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, for non-declaration to the tune of £8020 and $704 and was subsequently  handed over to the EFCC for further investigations. Consequently, he was arraigned on Tuesday on a two-count charge bordering on money laundering.  INEC Chair Urges African Youths to Champion Peaceful Elections Chairman of Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has called on African youths to promote peaceful and credible elections across the continent. Speaking during a lecture at The Gambia’s Civil Service University on Tuesday, Yakubu stressed the critical role of young people in electoral processes, urging them to act with integrity and patriotism. “Young people form the backbone of election duty staff,” he noted, warning against malpractice, misinformation, and fake news. Yakubu was later honoured with a Certificate of Appreciation by the university for his contributions to democracy in West Africa.

 Jigawa Govt Mandates Hijab for Female Security Personnel on Duty The Jigawa State Government has mandated that all female security personnel wear hijabs while on duty, in a move to accommodate religious and cultural practices. Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Sagir Musa, announced the directive following a State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Umar Namadi. The order applies to female employees of three private security firms contracted to guard schools, hospitals, and courts. Musa said the decision aims to create an inclusive work environment and boost the confidence of female operatives. He added that the policy is in line with the state’s commitment to modesty, dignity, and workplace inclusion. Governor Namadi recently approved the recruitment of 9,969 youths as security personnel for public institutions.

 Dangote Refinery Slashes Petrol Price to ₦835/Litre Dangote Refinery has cut the ex-depot price of petrol to ₦835 per litre—a ₦30 drop from last week’s ₦865, and a ₦45 reduction from ₦880 earlier this month. This marks the third price cut in six weeks. The new rate, confirmed via pro forma invoice and petroleumprice.ng, includes statutory charges from the NMDPRA. Diesel remains at $608 plus surcharges, while jet fuel stands at $664.75 with added costs. Coastal sales and LPG remain on hold. The cut aligns with declining landing costs, now at ₦853 per litre, and comes amid the approval of 117,000 metric tonnes of petrol imports between April 8–16. This also follows the renewed implementation of the Naira-for-Crude policy, a long-term initiative aimed at boosting local refining and easing FX pressures.
