META WINS LANDMARK FTC ANTITRUST CASE, AVOIDS BREAKING OFF WHATSAPP AND INSTAGRAM . (PHOTO).

Image
Meta wins landmark FTC antitrust case, avoids breaking off WhatsApp and Instagram   Meta won a major victory Tuesday after a federal judge rejected the government’s attempt to label the company a social-networking monopoly, shielding the tech giant from a breakup that could have forced it to spin off Instagram and WhatsApp. U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, who presided over the high-stakes antitrust trial that concluded in May, ruled that regulators failed to show Meta currently has monopoly power in the market. His decision stands in stark contrast to recent rulings against Google, which was found to have illegally dominated both search and digital advertising. In his opinion, Boasberg wrote that regulators continued relying on a narrow view of Meta’s competition — one that assumed the company still squares off only with the rivals it faced a decade ago. The court, he said, needed proof of Meta’s present-day dominance, not evidence from the past. Regulators had argue...

The Kessler twins, German entertainment duo, die together through assisted suicide Alice and Ellen Kessler, the German twin sisters whose singing and dancing made them European entertainment icons in the 1950s and ’60s, died together by assisted suicide on Monday at the age of 89, the German Society for Humane Dying confirmed. The organization said the sisters had been considering the decision for some time and had been members for over a year. A doctor and a lawyer conducted preliminary discussions with them to ensure the choice was deliberate and informed. “People who choose this option in Germany must be absolutely clear-headed, free and responsible,” the organization said, adding that such decisions are “thoughtful and consistent, not impulsive.” Germany legalized medically assisted suicide in 2020 after its highest court ruled a prior ban violated constitutional rights. Born on August 20, 1936, in Nazi Germany, the sisters trained as ballet dancers. Their family fled East Ger...

Trump praised the prince for his leadership and said he was proud of his record on human rights. The visit was accompanied by a ceremonial display including a military flyover, a Rose Garden tour, and Trump lauding the reception he received during his visit to Saudi Arabia.  A sweet senior couple just said “I do” in the most perfect place imaginable: the YMCA swimming pool where they first met! Barbara (78) and Ron (81) from Clearwater, Florida, locked eyes five years ago during water aerobics class. What started with smiles and friendly chatter between exercises turned into coffee dates, then love. Last Valentine’s Day, Ron proposed right there in the shallow end with a waterproof ring. This weekend, they returned to that very same pool to get married. Waist-deep in water, surrounded by 60 guests in swimsuits and leis, their classmates cheering, and their original instructor officiating, they exchanged vows while gently floating with pool noodles. The bride glowed in a white swimsuit with a lace cover-up and waterproof veil; the groom looked dapper in swim trunks and a bow tie. “We met in the water, fell in love in the water, so we got married in the water,” Barbara said with a big smile.  Shehu Sani Mocks PDP For Asking Trump To Intervene In Nigeria’s Democracy Former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani, has taken a swipe at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for appealing to U.S. President Donald Trump to help safeguard Nigeria’s democracy. Sani reacted on Tuesday through a post on his verified X account, following the PDP’s public plea to the American president. Earlier reports indicated that the newly elected PDP National Chairman, Taminu Turaki, had urged President Trump to step in and “save” Nigeria’s democracy. Commenting on the development, Sani wrote: “The new PDP chairman is reportedly seeking Trump’s assistance. Is it to help them reclaim the party secretariat or to help them capture someone?” This comes as Sani has consistently voiced opposition to any form of foreign military involvement in Nigeria, especially after Trump issued a warning over alleged Christian persecution in the country.

These remarks come amid rising public concern over the safety of Northern communities and mounting calls for urgent action to address the escalating violence.

The reality star argued that many citizens “hail and beg” political leaders in person, yet resort to online outbursts instead of demanding accountability. He added that much of the criticism he receives comes from people who “only insult and make jokes” rather than pushing for real change. His remarks quickly ignited mixed reactions across social platforms. One commenter admitted Kiddwaya raised valid points but noted that his own father has long been involved in politics, saying Nigerians often depend on influential figures for help rather than confronting the system. In his first game of the year, he delivered an 11-point, 12-assist double-double, slicing apart Utah’s defense with sharp, precise passing. Ayton said he often didn’t realize LeBron even saw his cuts until the ball was already in his hands, describing the ease of playing alongside someone with such elite court vision. At a closed-door meeting Tuesday, Rep. Jen Kiggans (R-Va.), a swing district lawmaker, urged her colleagues to extend the expiring subsidies, which cap premiums for benchmark ACA plans at 8.5% of income. Kiggans proposed a one-year stopgap extension, but only 14 Republicans have signed on, and her appeal received a lukewarm response. President Donald Trump and other GOP leaders have made clear they oppose continuing the ACA subsidies in their current form, calling for alternatives that would give the funds directly to individuals through options like health savings accounts or direct payments. Party leadership criticized the ACA during Tuesday’s meeting and encouraged members to craft alternative proposal...
