Hunter Biden says he will not apologize to Melania Trump despite lawsuit threat Hunter Biden has refused to apologize to first lady Melania Trump, despite her legal team threatening a lawsuit over comments he made linking her to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In a video interview released Thursday with journalist Andrew Callaghan, Biden dismissed the threat, saying, “F--- that. That’s not going to happen.” The dispute stems from Biden’s August 5 interview, in which he suggested Epstein “introduced Melania” to former President Donald Trump and described the connections between Epstein and the Trumps as “so wide and deep.” Melania Trump’s attorney, Alejandro Brito, sent a cease-and-desist letter on August 6, calling Biden’s statements “false, defamatory, disparaging, and inflammatory” and threatening legal action seeking $1 billion in damages if Biden did not retract his claims. Biden responded by saying he does not believe in guilt by association alone but criticized what ...

Taxi drivers stripped of licenses after arrests approach $140 million settlement Nearly 20,000 current and former New York City cabdrivers whose licenses were suspended following an arrest could receive up to $140 million from the city after it was found that taxi regulators failed to provide a meaningful appeals process for suspensions. The settlement stems from a class-action lawsuit filed nearly two decades ago and could rank among the largest payouts in the city’s history, depending on how many drivers file claims. In a Manhattan courtroom, Judge Richard J. Sullivan of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit said he intends to approve the settlement for drivers arrested between 2003 and 2020 whose licenses were suspended by the Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC). Preliminary approval was issued in May, and the judge said the matter of attorney fees will be resolved in the coming weeks. Payouts will be based on the length of a driver’s license suspension, with those...

Without intervention, it could ripple across the region for weeks and months.” Sudan has recorded nearly 100,000 suspected cholera cases and over 2,400 deaths since the Health Ministry declared the outbreak a year ago.
