 Kebbi Govt Donates 10 Hilux Vehicles to Boost Security on Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway  The Kebbi State Government has handed over 10 brand-new Hilux vehicles to the Federal Ministry of Works to strengthen security for personnel working on the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project. The vehicles were formally received by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who praised Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for the donation. Goronyo described the gesture as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to protecting workers and contractors on the strategic highway corridor.  School stampede kills 29 children in Central African Republic An explosion and the stampede that followed killed at least 29 schoolchildren and injured more than 250 at a high school in Central African Republic’s capital city, authorities said Thursday, AP reported. The explosion occurred on Wednesday at the Barthelemy Boganda High School in Bangui when power was being restored to an electrical transformer within the school premises after it malfunctioned, according to the country's Ministry of National Education. Most of the victims – including 16 girls – died at the scene after the explosion resulted in a stampede while others were confirmed dead at the hospital, the Ministry of Health said in a statement. At least 260 were injured and being treated in various hospitals, the ministry said. An estimated 5,000 students were at the school for higher-education exams when the incident occurred.

 Alleged N110b Fraud:  Court Adjourns Yahaya Bello’s Trial to July 8   Justice Maryanne Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Maitama, Abuja, on Wednesday, adjourned the N110 billion fraud trial of the immediate past Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, and two others until July 8; October 8 and 9; and November 12 and 13.   Bello is facing trial alongside Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, on16-count charges  bordering on criminal breach of trust and money laundering to the tune of  N110.4 billion. The offence, according to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  EFCC, is contrary to Sections 96 and 311 of the Penal Code Law Cap.89, Laws of Northern Nigeria, 1963, and punishable under Section 312 of the same law.   At the resumed hearing of the matter on Wednesday, EFCC first witness, Fabian Nwora completed his evidence. A second evacuation flight carrying Tanzanians living Iran was expected to arrive from United Arab Emirates on Thursday morning, the Tanzanian foreign ministry said, TRT Afrika reported.  Former NNPCL CFO Denies EFCC Arrest, Pledges Cooperation in $7.2 Billion Refinery Fraud Probe Umar Ajiya Isa, former Chief Financial Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has refuted claims of his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged $7.2 billion fraud linked to refinery operations. In a statement released on Thursday, June 26, 2025, Isa clarified that he voluntarily appeared before the EFCC for questioning and was not detained. “I have not been arrested. I honored the agency’s invitation and cooperated fully,” he said, emphasizing his unblemished record during his tenure at NNPCL. Isa vowed to continue cooperating with the EFCC as the investigation into the alleged fraud proceeds.  Federal Government Postpones Paramilitary Recruitment to July 14, Warns Against Payment The Federal Government has rescheduled the recruitment exercise for paramilitary agencies under the Ministry of Interior from June 26 to July 14, 2025, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) announced on Wednesday. In a statement, the CDCFIB disclosed that applications must now be submitted through the updated portal, recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng. The board emphasized that the recruitment process is entirely free and warned applicants against making payments to any individuals or entities. The CDCFIB apologized for any inconvenience caused by the postponement, urging candidates to adhere to the new schedule and use the official portal for applications. Further details on the recruitment process will be communicated through official channels, the board added.
