 Congo M23 rebels say they will withdraw from seized town to support peace push Rwanda-backed M23 rebels staging an offensive in east Congo said on Saturday they would withdraw forces from the seized town of Walikale in support of peace efforts, having previously said they were leaving troops there as they pushed on to the capital, Reuters reported. The government said it hoped the move would be translated into concrete action, after M23 this week pulled out of planned talks with Congolese authorities at the last minute due to EU sanctions on some of its leaders and Rwandan officials. It would have been their first direct engagement with Congo's government after President Felix Tshisekedi reversed his longstanding refusal to speak to the rebels.  2026 WCQ: Super Eagles depart Rwanda for Uyo Players and coaches of the Super Eagles have departed Kigali, Rwanda back to Nigeria on Saturday morning. They are expected to arrive in Uyo, Akwa Ibom where they will take on Zimbabwe on Tuesday evening. Their flight is expected to land around 4pm local time. The three-time African champions revived their hopes of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup with a 2-0 win over the Amavubis on Friday.  Adeleke imposes 24-hours curfew on two Osun councils Following the raging communal clash between Ifon and Ilobu communities, Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared a 24 hours curfew in two local government areas. The Nation reports the communities had been at loggerheads over land disputed which resulted to killings and razing of houses.  On Friday ,three people were reportedly killed including an ex-councillor and 30 people were shot with women and children displaced.  After hundreds of houses were burnt yesterday, Adeleke declared dusk-to-dawn curfew and summoned the kings of the warring communities for a meeting on Saturday.  Commissioner for Information Kolapo Alimi said: ā€œAdeleke has approved that the curfew be extended to Erin-Osun town.
