 Kebbi Govt Donates 10 Hilux Vehicles to Boost Security on Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway  The Kebbi State Government has handed over 10 brand-new Hilux vehicles to the Federal Ministry of Works to strengthen security for personnel working on the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project. The vehicles were formally received by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who praised Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for the donation. Goronyo described the gesture as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to protecting workers and contractors on the strategic highway corridor. He explained that the vehicles will be deployed exclusively to security operatives providing cover for construction teams along the section of the super highway passing through Kebbi State.  Marketers jack up depot PMS prices as middle-east tensions escalate Oil marketers have increased the depot prices of Premium Motor Spirit or petrol in reaction to renewed demand signals and rising tensions in the Middle East. With Brent crude climbing to $77.88 per barrel and WTI at $74.67, depot owners across Nigeria are already adjusting prices upwards. Data obtained from Petroleum price’s latest intelligence report noted that Nigerian depot prices for PMS and AGO (diesel) have gone up and are set to rise further this week if the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran does not abate. Depot prices as of June 20, 2025, showed that at Lagos depots, the pump price of PMS and AGO at the Dangote Refinery are ₦880 and ₦1,055, respectively.  Teachers’ strike: VeryDarkMan takes protest to Wike’s doorstep, teaches kids Social media critic and influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan has staged a protest at the FCT Minister’s gate in Abuja. The primary school teachers in the FCT, have been on strike since the 24th of March, 2025, now for more than 90 days, over the failure of the Area Council Chairmen to implement the new national minimum wage of N70,000. VDM on Monday, gathered schoolchildren dressed in uniform, and organised class where he taught the children letters of the alphabet. “S for Suegbe, T for Tinubu, W for Wike”, VDM called out, while the children repeated. He insisted that the Minister’s gate would form the new classroom for the children.  Security Guard Arrested in Connection with N1 Shooting Incident Near Makhado On 20 June 2025, at approximately 23:00, a 42-year-old male suspect, believed to be a security guard employed by a local security company, was arrested in Makhado in connection with a shooting incident that left a 28-year-old woman injured. According to preliminary reports, the victim was travelling with family in a silver Toyota C-HR from Gauteng. As they approached the three-mile circle on the N1, their vehicle was allegedly stopped by an unknown vehicle. Sensing potential danger, the driver did not comply and instead executed a U-turn. The family continued driving before making another U-turn, heading back towards Makhado.   BENUE LINKS BUS ABDUCTED WITH PASSENGERS IN OKPOKWU, BY GUNMEN  A Benue Links commercial bus with registration number 14B-143BN was attacked and its passengers abducted by unidentified gunmen on the evening of Sunday, June 22, 2025, along the Eke axis of Okpokwu Local Government Area in Benue State. Eyewitnesses reported that the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. when the bus, ferrying commuters through the route, was ambushed. The assailants reportedly robbed the passengers of their belongings before forcibly taking them into the nearby bush.  KEKE DRIVER, FRIEND RESCUED AFTER KIDNAP BY ARMED HERDSMEN IN NASARAWA 23rd June, 2025    A tricycle (Keke) driver identified as Terkaa and his friend, Pikin, have regained their freedom after being kidnapped by suspected Fulani herdsmen along the Kadarako axis while traveling to Agyalagu in Nasarawa State. The victims were attacked while onboard a vehicle loaded with goods alongside a third companion, Aondonegen. The trio, en route from Makurdi, ran into the ambush near Kadarako where they were all abducted and taken into the forest by the assailants. Tragically, Aondonegen was killed during the ordeal after he reportedly attempted to resist their captors by grabbing one of the armed men’s cutlasses and raising alarm.
