  The Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Rivers State Police Command, demanding a public apology for the assault on five journalists during a peaceful protest in Port Harcourt. Failure to comply, the union warned, would result in a statewide media blackout. In a statement jointly signed by Council Chairman Comrade Paul Bazia and Secretary Dr. Ijeoma Tubosia, the NUJ condemned the police actions as ā€œunprovoked, barbaric, and inhuman,ā€ calling for the immediate identification and prosecution of the officers involved. ā€œThe NUJ, as a watchdog of society, will not sit idly by while media practitioners are subjected to barbarism and brutality.  A Kentucky student has been found deceased after being swept away by floodwaters while walking to the bus stop. This tragic incident occurred in the Hickory Hills region of Frankfort, Kentucky. According to reports, dispatch received a call at approximately 6:45 a.m. to report a young child had been swept away in flood waters while walking to a bus stop. Multiple agencies responded immediately to the scene and began searching. Sadly the search would end at 8:45 a.m. when the young child was sadly found deceased. The Franklin County School District has confirmed the child was a student in their school. There is no more confirmed information at this time. Frankfort PD plan to release an official statement later today. Our thoughts are with the young boys family and his entire community.

THREE NATIVE DOCTORS ARRAIGNED IN ANAMBRA FOR ALLEGED INVOLVEMENT IN MONEY RITUALS. (PHOTO).

  Three native doctors, Onyebuchi Okocha (also known as Onyeze Jesus), Chidozie Nwangwu (popularly known as Akwa Okuko), and Ekene Igboekweze (known as Eke Hit), have been arraigned before a high court in Anambra State. The native doctors were charged with preparing money rituals and protective charms for criminals. They were arraigned separately before Honourable Justice Jude Obiorah, and their charges were read out to them in a heavily congested court. Justice Obiorah adjourned the matter until April 11, 2025. Speaking to newsmen after the court proceedings, one of the Counsels for the defendants, Remigus Okoli, alleged that the state government sought to remand the defendants without giving them adequate time to prepare their defense. Efforts to speak with Counsels to the state government, led by F.C. Okeke, were unsuccessful.

  Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has paid an unscheduled visit to the site of a devastating fire incident that occurred at No. 73 Lagos Street, Off Ngwa road Aba, where a two-storey building was engulfed in flames, destroying properties worth millions of Naira. Governor Otti expressed his sympathy for the victims and described the incident as "unfortunate." He assured them that the government would provide support to reduce the impact of their loss and help them secure alternative accommodation. The governor also thanked God that no lives were lost in the inferno. The governor directed his Senior Special Assistant on Homeland Security to conduct an investigation into the cause of the fire.  Taraba Govt, NAPTIP Rescue 8 Trafficked Children, Arrest Suspect The Taraba State Government, in collaboration with NAPTIP, has rescued eight trafficked children who were being smuggled out of the state. Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Mary Sinjen, disclosed this on Friday during the reunion of the rescued children with their families. The children, taken from Minda village in Lau LGA, were intercepted in Gembu, Sardauna LGA, where traffickers were reportedly seeking more victims. The key suspect, identified as Mrs. Patience, along with several accomplices, has been arrested and is currently in custody as legal proceedings continue. Sinjen reaffirmed the governmentā€™s zero tolerance for child trafficking and emphasized ongoing efforts to locate other victims. She called for public vigilance, stressing that child protection is a collective responsibility.

Presidency sources confirmed that Baba-Ahmed, a former spokesperson of the Northern Elders Forum, stepped down about two weeks ago, citing personal reasons.  Benue Links Condemns Bus Attack, Mourns Victims State-owned transport company, Benue Links Nigeria Ltd, has strongly condemned Thursdayā€™s deadly attack on one of its buses by suspected Fulani herdsmen near Otukpo Burnt Bricks. In a statement issued Friday by the companyā€™s Information Officer, Ehi Daniel, the firm confirmed that the 18-seater bus, en route Makurdi to Otukpo, was ambushed, resulting in the deaths of the driver, Mr. Samuel Agege, and a front-seat passenger. Three passengers reportedly escaped the abduction attempt, while another had disembarked earlier in Taraku.
